NEW Pixar Pre-Show Announced for a Disney Park

Disneyland Resort is in the midst of some big changes and something NEW has just been announced.

Pixar Pier

A new store is making its way to Avengers Campus, Splash Mountain has permanently CLOSED to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and one restaurant is in the process of becoming a Tiana-themed spot. But now there’s something new to look forward to if you plan to visit Disneyland Resort in the evening!

A brand new Pixar film — Elemental — is set to be released on June 16th, 2023, and soon Disney California Adventure Park will have a nighttime addition themed to the movie.

Starting June 2nd, a NEW water short — called Elemental Connection — will be available to watch at Disney California Adventure Park!

©Pixar

The “water short” will highlight the stories and characters from Elemental, and will be presented as a pre-show to the park’s typical nighttime water show, World of Color — ONE.

There will be projections across screens of water, fountains, and music. It’ll only be available for a limited time and will run just about 2 minutes.

Disney says that in seeing the show, “you’ll see that stepping out of your element may help you uncover who you really are, just like Ember and Wade.”

For those not familiar with Elemental, the new Pixar movie will follow Ember and Wade, two unlikely friends that end up sharing a lot in common. Ember is a fiery woman with a predestined fate — to own her family’s shop. She’s heard her whole life that “elements do not mix,” but begins to question the mantra when she meets Wade, a “go-with-the-flow” guy who encourages her to live her life to her own standards.

Tickets for the film are available to buy and we’ve seen merchandise released for it too.

Be sure to stop by Disney California Adventure to catch the pre-show themed to the film before it’s gone! For more Disneyland updates, click here to learn about the NEW snacks coming to the resort, and see how one Disneyland hotel is dramatically CHANGING.

New ‘Elemental’ Pre-Show Coming Soon to ‘World of Color – ONE’ at Disney California Adventure

A new pre-show inspired by Pixar’s “Elemental” will debut ahead of “World of Color – ONE” at Disney California Adventure on June 2, 2023.

Elemental Connection

The pre-show, titled “Elemental Connection,” will showcase the story and characters of “Elemental.” It will play in front of “World of Color – ONE” for a limited time.

“Elemental” will be in theaters on June 16, 2023, so we can expect the pre-show to last at least through the film’s release. Read more about “Elemental” below.

Elemental

Ember and Wade in Pixar's Elemental

“Elemental” is described as follows: ”In a city where fire, water, land, & air residents live together, a fiery young woman & a go-with-the-flow guy will discover something elemental: How much they have in common.” It stars Mamoudou Athie and Leah Lewis as Wade and Ember, respectively. The screenplay is by Brenda Hsueh and it’s produced by Denise Ream. Pixar veteran Thomas Newman composed the score.

It’s directed by Peter Sohn, who previously directed Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur.” Sohn drew on his youth as a child of immigrants growing up in 1970s New York City for the story of “Elemental.”

The first full trailer for “Elemental” was released in March. It will be in theaters on June 16, 2023.

“Elemental” is coming out a year after Pixar’s last film, “Lightyear,” a “Toy Story” spinoff. Another “Toy Story” sequel is in the works.

After “Elemental,” Pixar’s sci-fi adventure “Elio” is on the release schedule for March 2024, followed by “Inside Out 2” in June 2024.

World of Color – ONE

WorldofColorOneDebut 40

World of Color premiered as part of Summer Nightastic! in 2010. It’s performed on the water in front of Pixar Pier using 1,200 water fountains, lights, fire, lasers, fog, and projections on mist screens.

“World of Color – ONE,” the latest iteration of World of Color, debuted as part of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration, honoring 100 years of The Walt Disney Company. The show features moments from across Disney’s varied franchises. It tells a new story of how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. The show’s original song, “Start a Wave,” is available for streaming.

Some Pixar Pier attractions are now operating during “World of Color – ONE” for the first time.

Previous “World of Color” pre-shows include the Lunar New Year 2023 tag, “Hurry Home.”

Brilliant projections dance across vast water screens in this two-minute pre-show, bringing the land, air, water and fire residents of Element City to life. Walt Disney World 2024 Vacation Bookings Reopen After Experiencing Downtime

Walt Disney World has reopened 2024 vacation bookings after having to pause sales due to overwhelming guest demand.

2024 Vacation Bookings

2024 vacation bookings waiting room

Disney opened 2024 vacation bookings early this morning but quickly paused all sales via phone and online. Guests trying to book saw messages stating, “Room, package and ticket bookings are currently paused online and over the phone. Bookings will resume as soon as possible.”

Similar problems happened last week, as guests desperately swamped the reservation systems attempting to book voyages aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

A virtual waiting room to book 2024 vacations online is now open a few hours later, although a message saying bookings are paused still appears and the approximate wait time is “recalculating.”

As Disney states, to retain your place in the waiting room, don’t refresh the page or hit the back button.

With bookings opening today, guests can reserve a Disney Dining Plan for the first time in three years.

Disney Dining Plan

The Disney Dining Plans will return on January 9, 2024.

There are two plans as part of the program: Disney Dining Plan and Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan. The first includes table-service restaurants. Read about Disney Dining Plan pricing.

Check out the full list of Walt Disney World restaurants participating in both Disney Dining Plans.
