The right entrance pavilion at Universal Studios Florida has been undergoing construction recently, and as of this morning, it has now been reopened.
Entrance Pavilion Reopens at Universal Studios Florida
Walking toward the park entrance, you can see guests using both pavilions.
The entrance pavilion to the right was demolished and rebuilt. It has been behind construction walls up until now.
Some construction walls remain standing nearby to act as a fence while construction is completed on the planters and fence line that enclose the park.
We were finally able to get a close-up look at the awnings and the shingled roof tiles that are all new.
New “themed” ticket scanners have been added on this side. Last year, Universal’s Islands of Adventure also got new, themed entry points. The new scanners at Universal Studios Florida aren’t as strongly themed, but they do match the surrounding architecture of the park’s entrance and exit.
We saw the new scanners added at the exits prior to them being installed at this redone entrance area.
We stopped by the opposite (left) side entrance pavilion to show you what the planters and fenceline will look like when completed.
We presume now that this entrance pavilion is finished, work will begin on the opposite side.
Other Universal Studios Florida Construction
A giant pink cupcake, with a Minion on top, has appeared on the roof of Minion Café at Universal Studios Florida.
It’s topped with a red cherry and a Minion with binoculars. The Florida version of Minion Café has a façade resembling multiple city buildings. It will be much bigger than the Minion Café at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Read a Minion Café review from Universal Studios Hollywood. The Florida version will reportedly have a similar menu but with a few different items. Universal will push mobile ordering at the new quick-service restaurant. They started hiring Minion Café Team Members last month.
It’s rumored Mel’s Drive-In will close for a refurbishment at the end of this month, and Minion Café will open around the same time. It will be part of the new Illumination Avenue land.
Illumination Avenue
Illumination Avenue will include the pre-existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem — which just had its façade refurbished — as well as the new Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast and Minion Café.
Villain-Con Minion Blast replaces Shrek 4-D, which permanently closed in January 2022. Villain-Con was featured in the first “Minions” spinoff movie, and the ride will feature various villains from the franchise, including the Vicious 6. The ride will purportedly be a shooting attraction with guests on a moving walkway.
Villain-Con Minion Blast and Minion Café are scheduled to open this summer.
Production Central is also home to Transformers: The Ride 3D and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. At this time, the exact layout of Illumination Avenue is unclear in terms of dividing the area up as the Minions attractions currently sit between Transformers: The Ride 3D and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
