PHOTOS: New Foliage Added to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Façade at Magic Kingdom

As Splash Mountain is turned into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom, new details are being added to the attraction façade.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Flume

Not much looks different at the bottom of the attraction, where rockwork has been demolished and reconstructed next to the flume.

There are purple strings tied around some of the trees down here. We’ve also seen purple strings wrapped around trees in the queue, perhaps marking them for removal.

Green tubes border the peninsula in the curve of the flume.

A few weeks ago, we spotted a ride envelope on site to test that the new rockwork was not a danger to the ride.

Scaffolding is just barely visible beneath the tunnel of the bridge.

Plywood sits across the track right next to the rockwork, presumably to protect it and workers.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Mountainside

Crew members were working on the mountainside next to the flume during our Thursday visit. A hole in the gray rockwork is just barely visible on the left.

A crane is parked behind the attraction and is sometimes visible over the mountain.

Crews have spray-painted “E56” on the rockwork beneath a tree, probably to mark where more rockwork will be cut away.

We also spotted some new foliage near the top of the mountain.

The new foliage has light green leaves and pink flowers. It stands out from the older green grass.

Though Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have the same ride structure and basic shape as Splash Mountain, the exterior is being updated to look more like the Louisiana bayou.

Near the attraction entrance, crews have painted the mountainside with fresh shades of red and brown.

We could also see some of the new foliage from here.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Queue

There are spray-paint markings on the ground of the queue, indicating the pavement will be torn up and replaced soon.

This is also where more purple strings are wrapped around trees. One of the first changes during construction was the removal of birdhouses from the queue.

The podium resembling a wooden crate was used to hide the FastPass/Lightning Lane wiring. It still sits in the queue, disconnected from the ground, and may eventually be removed.

We also noticed this tall post in the ground.

From the Frontierland train station, guests can see the pile of dirt that was removed from the floor of the barn.

We could also see crew members talking deeper in the queue.

The barn door was covered by a tarp, so we couldn’t see inside. But during our last construction update, we could see that some of the floor had been repaved.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaces Splash Mountain, which closed in January 2023 at Magic Kingdom. Check out our photos and video from “the last splash” and read our complete history of Splash Mountain. The ride will permanently close on May 31 at Disneyland.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure invites guests to embark on a thrilling voyage, influenced by the beloved film, “The Princess and the Frog.” It picks up after the events of the film and includes characters new and old.

According to the official release, guests will “join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans.” The story will feature Louis and a few other good friends enjoying zydeco, a musical fusion of rhythm and blues native to Louisiana.

The new attraction will take place inside Tiana’s Foods, a co-op that helps provide food for the community. Founded in 1927 by Tiana, the co-op is located within a salt mine, where cultivators grow crops along the former path of Splash Mountain’s waters. Visitors will ascend through a mill house that is constructed into the mountainside, enjoying the sights and sounds of the Louisiana bayou.
