10 Things You NEVER Realized You Could Eat in Disney World

We talk a LOT about food here on Disney FOOD Blog, because, well, it kinda’ comes with the territory.

Sweet Summertime Surprises

Although we go on and on about our favorites like Corn Dog Nuggets and PLASTIC Cheese, Mickey Beignets, Cheeseburger Pods, and more, we wanted to let you know about some of those things you may not know that you can eat in Disney World. So it’s time to set that Mickey Bar aside (we’re kidding!) and make a list of OTHER things you can eat in Disney World you didn’t know about!

Snacks From All Over The World

If you want to have an international snack fest, all you have to do is go to EPCOT and walk around World Showcase. Grab some Jammie Dodgers in the U.K. (or a host of any other U.K. cookies and candy), and then make your way to China to eat the most interesting chip flavors you’ll ever find (we’ve tried Octopus chips, Spicy Crayfish Chips, and more).

Beef Wellington chips

In Norway, you can grab School Bread (a wonderful Norwegian pastry) at Kringla Bakeri Og Cafe. In Japan, it’s time to try snacks like seaweed crackers, rice candy, and crunchy crabs (no really!). World Showcase is a relative BUFFET of international snack foods, so indulge!

Ice Cream Flavors You Never Knew Existed

Sure, you can grab regular old ice cream at the grocery store, but you haven’t lived until you’ve tried some of the unique flavors available at Salt & Straw in Disney Springs. Some of the unique flavors we’ve had here include Deviled Egg Custard with Smoked Black Tea Ice Cream (yes, as in Deviled Eggs), ice cream sprayed with perfume, ice cream with flowers in it, and yes, even ice cream with BUGS in it.

Salt & Straw’s flavors change every month, so you don’t know what kind of unique offerings will be available. For the less faint of heart, though, there are some standard classic flavors, too. If you like what you find here, you can also get pints of your favorite flavor to take home (or you can even order them online at Salt & Straw’s website).

A WHOLE Fish

If you visit Tiffins or Skipper Canteen, you can eat a WHOLE Fried Fish — and by WHOLE, we mean, the whole thing — this fish still has its face on it. While it’s not that common in the U.S., fish is often served like this in other parts of the world. Here’s the thing, though — if you can handle your food looking at you, you might discover this is one of the best fish dishes you’ve ever had in your life.

You will need to be careful when eating, though. The bones are still intact inside the fish, so you’ll have to pull as many out as you can before taking a bite (and we recommend chewing slowly and carefully).

Food and Drinks From a Galaxy Far, Far Away

If you love Star Wars and want to try food and drinks that actually EXIST in that world (or should exist in that world), you’ll want to head straight to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here, you can drink blue AND green milk, as well as eat space charcuterie. You can even order up a drink at Oga’s Cantina that will make your mouth go numb (it’s called the Fuzzy Tauntaun).

If you need a caffeine fix, don’t worry — you can also get space coffee with the Cold Brew Black Caf, which has chocolate puffs on top — the same chocolate puffs you can see on the Disney+ series Andor!

Caviar

If you’ve got a taste for the ULTRA-SWEET life, you might find yourself craving some caviar while you’re in Disney World. You’ll just need to head over to the Enchanted Rose Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and order the Caviar.

Caviar

The caviar is Siberian Caviar, with Egg Yolk Spread, Crème Fraîche, Caper Berries, and Brioche. Oh, and it will set you back $115.

Pulled Pork Jelly Donut Sandwich

Okay, so this could be one of the most unique snacks in Disney World. It’s the Pulled Pork Jelly Donut Sandwich at Eight Spoon Cafe in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Someone literally thought that it might be fun to put pulled pork on a jelly donut, but you know what? IT WORKS.

Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich

So what makes this so good? Well, it’s that perfect combo of sweet and savory. Also, Disney orders the donuts for the sandwich from Krispy Kreme, so you KNOW it’s good.

Donut Grilled Cheese

Okay, so donut sandwiches are a THING in Disney World, but hear us out on this one. We’re already suckers for a Grilled Cheese, but The Grilled Cheeeeeese (no, really, that’s how it’s spelled) at Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew at Disney Springs is a MUST. Again, this is something that might have you raising your eyebrows, but the sweet donut with the salty gooey cheese is what our cheesiest dreams are made of.

Grilled Cheeeeese

This is one of our favorite things on the menu at Everglazed, and where else are you going to get a Donut Grilled Cheese?

Interesting Cupcake Flavors

Okay, so if you’re looking for some truly unique cupcakes, head on over to Sprinkles in Disney Springs. Not only can you occasionally get BOOZY cupcakes here, like a Margarita Cupcake made with Patron tequila. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, be sure to head over to the cupcake bakery when it has the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Cupcake.

If you’re not feeling adventurous, you can grab some regular cupcake flavors here, too — but wouldn’t it be fun to try something new?

Grapefruit Cake

If you love citrus, you cannot miss out on the infamous Grapefruit Cake at Hollywood Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios. This cake even has a classic Hollywood backstory, so you know you have to try it. The cake’s story goes back to a famous golden age Hollywood gossip columnist who went to the original Brown Derby Restaurant in Hollywood and wanted a dessert that was light.

Grapefruit Cake

The chef invented the Grapefruit cake with layers of cream cheese frosting, so it’s not light, but you know what it is? DELICIOUS.

Here’s the recipe for that famous cake

Cheese ON FIRE

We’ve talked a lot about how much we love Wine Bar George. One of the appetizers that we love is the Saganaki on Fire. It’s made with Vlahoriti cheese. A server pours Metaxa on it and SETS IT ON FIRE and then pours lemon juice on it to make those flames rise even higher. It’s worth ordering for the presentation alone.

But the final result is a creamy and gooey melted cheese that you’ll want to dip the accompanying bread into (and everything else).
