19 Reasons to AVOID Magic Kingdom Right Now

You probably read this title and wondered: “Why in the world would I want to avoid Magic Kingdom?!”

Magic Kingdom

There is so much to do in the original Disney World theme park — meet tons of characters, see the Festival of Fantasy parade, ride the brand new TRON Lightcycle / Run, and eat inside Cinderella Castle. So why are we saying that you should avoid Magic Kingdom right now? The answer is simple — a major jump in wait times.

That’s right — wait times went up at 19 rides in Magic Kingdom over the past week, and we’ve seen some of the crowds to prove it! Now there are ways to combat the growing wait times in Magic Kingdom without avoiding it altogether. Some tools you can use include rope dropping, which means you arrive at the park before opening time so you get a head start on the crowds at the most popular attractions. If you are a Disney World hotel guest, you can also enter the park 30 minutes early via the Early Theme Park Entry perk!

Getting out of bed early not your jam? You can also purchase Genie+ so that you can grab Lightning Lanes to skip the lines at rides. It’s still a good idea to get up early to lock in your first Genie+ selection at 7AM, but this can be a helpful tool when used with or in lieu of rope drop.

Want to learn more about Genie+? You can do that right here!

Take a look at the average wait times at every Disney World ride to see what we’re talking about! Use this as a tool to decide if you think Genie+ is worth it for your family on your upcoming trip. It’s an additional cost on an already expensive vacation, so this can be a very important choice to your budget!
