After the recent release of new Mickey S’mores kits at Walt Disney World Resorts, it seems that the once free activity of making campfire s’mores is no more.
Campfire S’mores No Longer Free
We recently visited Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to take part in the campfire activity but found that Children’s Activities Cast Members were no longer giving out free graham crackers and chocolate to complete the s’more. Guests can still get free marshmallows for roasting, though.
Instead, resort guests are encouraged to purchase the Mickey S’mores kit for $7, which includes two Mickey-shaped butter graham cookies, dark chocolate, and a vanilla marshmallow. You can check out our review of the kit here.
When we asked about purchasing this kit at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn during a recent visit, we were informed the kits were only for guests staying on property with purchase power on their MagicBands, so non-resort guests may be unable to purchase their own. However, at the Polynesian, we did have the opportunity to buy a kit, so the rules may vary resort-to-resort.
Despite this change, signage at the campfire states guests can have “as many marshmallows” as they want but must use the same stick when getting more. Marshmallow sticks are also not allowed to leave the campfire area.
