Did Disney World Just CONFIRM an EPCOT Restaurant Change?

Dining options in Disney World are constantly changing.

Price increases hit some of our favorite restaurants, new dining locations take over old ones, and seasonal menus come and go throughout the parks. Thankfully, these changes can lead to exciting new experiences in the park, and Disney has shared that EPCOT would be getting just that this summer. Shiki-Sai Izakaya and Sushi is a table-service restaurant coming to the Japan pavilion, presenting a “festive dining experience in a sharable Izakaya-style.” We’ve been waiting for the news of its exact location since it has been announced, and now, we have a new clue about its potential whereabouts.

While Disney has been a bit mysterious about its exact location, we do know that it will be on the second floor of the Mitsukoshi Department Store. Since Tokyo Dining has been closed for refurbishment for some time now, and Disney has promised Shiki-Sai will have “stunning views of EPCOT, the World Showcase Lagoon, and, of course, fireworks,” it stands to reason that the new restaurant will be taking over Tokyo Dining. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been confirmed just yet.

But, wait! On Disney’s website, we noticed a strange coincidence that has us believing our suspicions are correct. There is now a page for Shiki-Sai…or is there? If you look closely, the page that lists Shiki-Sai as the heading is just Tokyo Dining’s page in disguise! The URL is still that of Tokyo Dining, and the featured image shows the dining room of the old restaurant as well.

Under the picture, Disney shares that Tokyo Dining will be closed for refurbishment through summer 2023. Coincidence?

While this of course doesn’t confirm that the new restaurant will be taking its place, it is something to look out for! We’ll keep an eye out for any updates as we see them, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
