What’s better than getting updates and news from Disney?

Disney tends to reveal first looks and sneak peeks about upcoming events, movies, and rides to get us excited about the projects. Recently, the runDisney Springtime Surprise theme was announced, Disney shared a new addition coming to a holiday party, and we saw new concept art for an upcoming Frozen ride. This weekend is no different as there is a BIG event happening that Disney is attending, which could lead to some major news!

Disney is a sponsor of the 2023 ESSENCE Festival of Culture^TM from June 29th to July 3rd. Disney will return to showcase its content, celebrating the “Power of Joy” (the theme of the festival) through panels, special performances, meet and greets with characters, exclusive screenings, and giveaways.

Last year, we got BIG news about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure out of the Essence Festival. During this event, Disney announced when the new attraction coming to Magic Kingdom and Disneyland would be completed, and they also revealed the name of the attraction.

This year we can expect to see Haunted Mansion director Justin Simien joined by cast members LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, and Rosario Dawson attend events and panels on Saturday and Sunday. The new Haunted Mansion movie will debut in theaters on July 28th. It is possible we will hear more about the new film from one of these panels.

Disney also teased that during the Essence Festival, we will get a special look at the new Disney+ series Star Wars: Ahsoka as well as Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming musical feature Wish, starring Ariana DeBose.

Throughout the weekend, Disney will host panels and special moments that will include a “Q&A session on Disney vacations across the globe and a Celebrate Soulfully Parks showcase that highlights the experiences of black culture and heritage at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.”

Disney Dreamers Academy, a long-standing career mentorship program for black students, will host panel discussions, special performances, and more.

If you are wanting to watch, “ESSENCE Fest Primetime” will live stream on Hulu from June 30th through July 2nd, from 7PM until 11:59PM CT. For more Disney news and updates, be sure to follow DFB.
