Disney Just Gave Us 27 Reasons To Sit on Our Couch and Watch TV

The celebration of 100 Years of The Walt Disney Company is in full swing.

Disney100 decorations at Magic Kingdom

In the parks, you’ll find Disney100 decorations in the stores and at the entrances. You can find special merchandise collections at the parks and online. We’ve even seen some Disney World rides change for the celebration. But if you haven’t been to the parks, Disney is now giving you a way to enjoy the celebration right from your couch.

Disney+ will begin debuting a collection of 27 newly restored Walt Disney Animation Studios classic shorts in celebration of the 100th anniversary. You can catch them starting on Friday, July 7th, and each short will feature characters we know and love such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip n’ Dale, and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

Films will include classics as well as lesser-known titles. The collection will include “examples of Disney’s earliest theatrical shorts“. According to the Walt Disney Company, the short films were restored by Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team which is led by director Kevin Schaeffer. Schaeffer worked closely with creative advisors from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Dorothy McKim, special projects and 2D animation producer, along with color supervision by Mike Giaimo and animator Eric Goldberg are a part of the same team that restored Cinderella and that is currently working on a restoration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
