DON’T PANIC, But Sonny Eclipse Has Gone MISSING in Disney World (Again)

Sure, Mickey is classic, and getting to meet him in Disney World can be magical.

But some of our favorite characters are the ones who might not come to mind as easily when you think of the House of the Mouse. We’ve seen the hippos from Fantasia in the Easter Parade, hugged Baloo and King Louie during Earth Month, and were even lucky enough to jam out with TRON Goofy during a media event this year. When we’re in Magic Kingdom, we often like to stop by Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe to say hello to the quirky Sonny Eclipse while we chow down on a burger and fries. This audio-animatronic alien crooner is an icon at this establishment, but today, he went MISSING.

Ok, let’s retrace our steps. Last year, Sonny disappeared for quite some time (his stage is used for dance parties at after-hours events, so it wasn’t all that surprising.) Except, it took him months to come back. Finally, in February of this year, he made his triumphant return to the stage, and we’ve been listening to his smooth jazz ever since.

But now, he’s GONE! We were walking through this dining location today when we noticed the stage was empty.

Could he have been removed for a special occasion? Or maybe he just needs a tune-up? We’re not sure what the issue is, but we’ll let you know if we see him return! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news.
