So, how much luggage can you take on board? Disney Cruise Line allows for 2 suitcases, one carry-on, and one personal item per person (sounds familiar, right — kinda like flying?). You will check the suitcases with a porter at the port, and they will be delivered to your stateroom. You will be responsible for carrying your carry-on bags and personal items onto the ship. You will receive two luggage tags per person from Disney Cruise Line in advance of your cruise, and those should go onto your suitcases.

You can usually go to your stateroom a short time after boarding, and take drop your carry-ons off there. But the delivery of your suitcases to your stateroom can take a few hours. So, it’s important to bring medication, electronic devices, and anything else you may need right away in your carry-on (again, just like at the airport). Many cruise passengers also pack a swimsuit in their carry-on, since the pools will often open before your luggage arrives in your stateroom.

Now … some REAL TALK. Just because you can bring two suitcases per person on a Disney Cruise doesn’t mean you SHOULD. Two suitcases is a whole lotta clothes — it’s pretty likely more clothes than you will need. If you plan to spend most of your days on the ship at the pool and off the ship at the beach, you’re going to need less changes of clothes than you probably think. Storage space will be limited in your stateroom, so even if you have a tendency to overpack on most trips, edit your suitcase(s) well for this one!
