Is This Disney Springs Restaurant the Best Value for a Sit-Down Lunch?

Disney Springs is known to be THE shopping and dining district of Disney World.

Disney Springs

We’ve seen changes in the menu at a popular restaurant and tried out a color-changing cocktail in Disney Springs, but on a recent trip out we decided to stop in and try a few menu items we had yet to review, until now!

During this visit, we opted for a meal indoors at City Works Eatery & Pour House. This restaurant can be found in The Westside section of Disney Springs near House of Blues, Cirque Du Soleil, and the M&Ms Store. It’s also helpful to note that the closest parking areas to this restaurant are surface parking and the Orange Garage.

City Works in Disney Springs

Atmosphere

While City Works does offer outdoor seating, this particular day called for rain in the forecast so we requested indoor seating to enjoy our meal.

Check-in desk at the front entrance

Most of the indoor seating is booths or high tables, giving it a brewery or pour house feel. There are two separate bars inside — one by the front entrance…

…and the other in the middle of the restaurant.

Look at all the different brews on their board!

We were seated near an expansive indoor bar that was lined with big screen TVs tuned to different channels. If you need to catch a big game while on vacation at Disney World, this might be the place!

Large Bar Inside

Overall it seemed pretty quiet for the early afternoon, but we can imagine it being a lively place the later it gets into the night.

Menu

We were presented with a couple of menus. The first was specifically for drink options. Here’s a look at the front that details how City Works serves its beer …

Drink options

… but beer isn’t all they serve here. They also have several wines on tap including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Prosecco, as well as cocktail options in tropical flavors, old-fashioneds, draft mules, margaritas, and modern classics.

Even more drinks

The main menu had bar bites, shareable appetizers, soups & salads, and a few main course options…

…while the back continued with other heartier entree options like burgers, smoked meats, pasta, tacos, and a few dessert selections.

Eats

After a few minutes of browsing the menu, it was time to order! First, we opted for the House Salad.

House Salad

While there are several salad options, we decided the house salad would be a good size as a starter. This salad cost $10 and had a great presentation, but it left us wondering initially if it would taste as good as it looked.

Doesn’t this look good?

The House Salad is made of romaine and iceberg lettuce, artisanal greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, bell peppers, Kalamata olives, red onion, garlic croutons, and red wine vinaigrette. This salad may have looked tiny, but in the end, we were surprised with how filling it was. It was crisp and packed with flavors. The veggies were crunchy and full of flavor, and the garlic croutons were a bit spicy, which added a nice kick.

Just a bite!

We would recommend you try this one if you’re a house salad regular, a veggies lover, or someone that likes a little zest to their salads.

Next, we decided to try the Loaded Potato Flatbread.

Loaded Potato Flatbread

This dish is made of fingerling potatoes, hardwood smoked bacon, mozzarella, green onion, cheddar, and ranch dressing on a flatbread, and the cost for this dish was $19. This was a BIG portion for the price and would make an excellent choice to share.

It’s ginormous

This dish was not your typical flatbread — it had definitely had a glow up. There was a lot of flavor from the crispy bacon, and you could taste the sharpness of the cheddar against the mozzarella that pulled apart as you grabbed a piece. The dough wasn’t too chewy and was just the right thickness.

A section of the Loaded Potato Flatbread

We loved this dish, but, if we could have suggested anything, it would have been that the flatbread be offered with extra sauce to drizzle on top. This dish is a definite crowd pleaser. But if you’re not into flatbreads, bacon, or cheese, we think you should pass.

For our main entree, we were eager to try out the Spicy Shrimp Tacos.

Spicy Shrimp Tacos

Now if the name and the photo alone aren’t enough to get your tastebuds watering, let’s tell you a bit more about these tacos. They consisted of beer-battered shrimp, Asian slaw, chili aioli, sriracha, sesame seeds, and micro cilantro, all in flour tortillas. This dish cost $22, and is served as a set of 3 tacos. We chose the Chips and Salsa for our side this round.

A single Spicy Shrimp Taco

Here’s the scoop on the taste…it’s got a great kick to it! The spicy chili aioli mixed with the sriracha gives it a good afterburn on your taste buds but nothing overwhelmingly hot. The shrimp is fresh and snaps in your mouth against the veggies. The flour tortillas almost taste homemade. All of that paired with the salsa verde for the chips and salsa made it a winning combination.

another look inside

The spicy shrimp has a powerful kick that can leave a lingering burn in your mouth. So if spicy flavors are not your strong suit, we recommend you consider passing on this entree.

Overall

Overall, we were very pleased with the taste, cost, and how portions at City Works. The House Salad was a light but filling option. The Loaded Potato Flatbread could have been a meal all its own, and is definitely shareable. We really enjoyed the Spicy Shrimp Tacos — and the portion of three filled-to-the brim tacos was a good value.

All three together

We had fast and attentive service at City Works. The menu had good variety and the food quality and taste was consistent across the three dishes we ordered. While we had a quiet lunch here, the restaurant was starting to fill up before we left, and we expect that an evening meal here would be at a whole different pace.

Nosh or Not

Stop on by City Works Eatery & Pour House if…

  • You’re spending a day out of the parks and around Disney Springs. The Westside of Disney Springs is a walk from some of the more popular shopping in the complex. If you’ve got the time or know where to park for easier access it’s a great meal option!
  • You’re looking for a lively atmosphere and a few good brews. This is definitely a tap house environment. Although it’s family-friendly, know that many of the folks that have chosen to eat here are looking to hang around and have a few beers.
  • You’re craving food that won’t break the bank. The three courses we ordered came out to around $50 and honestly could have been split between two people. This would make for a great place to dine for a small gathering or date night.

Keep moseyin’ past if…

  • Drinking really isn’t your thing. Beer is a focus in this pour house, so if you’re not into it, this might not be the spot for you.
  • You’re not a fan of spicy things. The dishes we chose all had a good kick of flavor and spice to them, so if you’re sensitive to those things, we suggest asking your server for details about the spice level before ordering.
