4 Reasons Why We Love EPCOT’s France Pavilion

EPCOT’s France Pavilion is my favorite in World Showcase. The architecture and the aesthetic of this area are just unbelievable. It’s not the type of pavilion that you get lost in, but it’s one that is filled with beauty. After the expansion of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, it became even better because new food was added, and it allowed guests to dive deeper into this section of the park.

The other day I took a peaceful stroll through the pavilion, and I was just in awe, so I decided to take a seat and write down four things I love about it since it’s my favorite. Let’s dive into the list!

French Treats

My biggest advice to anyone visiting EPCOT is to visit the Patisserie at the France Pavilion. Not only are the sweet treats beautifully assembled they also taste amazing. The bakery is the only spot to get amazing sweet treats. Next door, there’s an ice cream shop that has wonderful snacks perfect for a hot day. At L’Artisan des Glaces, they serve a dessert that has been making the rounds on social media called the Croque Glacé. This has one scoop of ice cream with a choice of sauce in a housemade brioche, and it’s pressed warm. Sounds delicious.

The Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie has a range of gorgeous desserts. Here’s a list of a few, Beignets filled with chcoclate and hazelnut, eclairs, mousse au chocolat, macaron lime raspberry and créme brûlée. If desserts aren’t your thing, don’t worry; they have plenty of savory sandwiches and snacks.

Two Princess Meet & Greets

At each pavilion in World Showcase, guests can meet characters that represent the country being shown. In the France Pavilion, you get the unique experience of being able to meet two French princesses, Belle and Aurora. These two get long times, but they tend to move quickly.

I always make it a point to meet Belle, and I get in the line before the listed set time on the My Disney Experience app to ensure I will be able to meet her. For Belle, I think it’s important to do that because she is in a very visible spot. Aurora meets in a gazebo close to the entrance of Remy’s section. Her line doesn’t get as crazy, but I would still show up closer to her set time or even toward the end since her line tends to move fast.

Unique Atmosphere

When walking into this pavilion, it feels like you are entering a little slice of France in the heart of Florida. I just wish the weather would change as you walk into the area, but I can get past that part. Even though I have seen the Eifel Tower in Paris, I still get excited seeing it at the top of the pavilion; it’s such an eye-catching monument.

I love all the theming surrounding the little shops and the small walkways; it’s all just so beautiful. I think I love it so much because it feels very whimsical and makes me think about adventure out in the great wide somewhere.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Last but not least, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. I know many Disney fans have mixed feelings regarding this attraction, but I love it. The first time I rode the attraction was in Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris, so it makes me feel like I’ve been transported back to that park. I actually believe that this attraction is fun even though it’s nothing new and it’s the technology we are familiar with. EPCOT was in need of a new attraction, and this was a great addition to the pavilion. Before this new ride, it felt like there wasn’t much for kids to enjoy, but now they have this cute and exciting attraction to enjoy.

Well, now that I have confessed my love for the France Pavilion, I want to know four things you love about this section of the park. Please leave your list in the comment section!

Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with Morello Cherries on a Riviera Brownie

This dessert is super delicious but super messy.

The outside of the hat is made of standard white chocolate and fondant.

patriotic top hat cake 2298

Although it’s listed as a vanilla bean cheesecake, it is filled with a liquid vanilla bean custard. There’s no cheesecake texture at all.

Despite that surprise, the dessert is good. The custard is light and cool in temperature, and you can taste the vanilla bean flavor.

At the base of the hat sits what is listed as morello cherries, but taste like blueberries. We don’t hate that as the fruit pairs well with the custard.

Beneath the berries, and what holds the cake in place, is a scrumptious fresh fudge brownie. The brownie is dense in the best way.

All in all, we think the Patriotic Top Hat Cake would be perfect to eat on a warm night under the fireworks. We can see and taste the love that went into this dessert.

4th of July at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World guests can celebrate the 4th of July 2023 in multiple different ways across the resort. Magic Kingdom will have the annual “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.” This fireworks spectacular will be performed at 9:20 p.m. on July 3 and July 4. The celebration returned last year after a hiatus due to COVID-19 with new narration. Watch last year’s “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” below.

There will also be DJs throughout Magic Kingdom.

At EPCOT, the “Heartbeat of Freedom” tag will be performed at the end of “EPCOT Forever.” The tag was previously performed after “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” on Independence Day, and then was suspended for a few years due to COVID-19. Last year, it was performed after “Harmonious.” This will be the first (and potentially only) time it plays after “EPCOT Forever.”

A cappella group Voices of Liberty will also perform classic American songs in The American Adventure and Disney characters will appear at the pavilion in “Spirit of ’76” attire.

Fourth of July-inspired food items returning to Walt Disney World Resort this year include the Fourth of July Fruit Tart at Contempo Café in Disney’s Contemporary Resort and the Fourth of July Liege Waffle at Connections Café in EPCOT.

Check out all the Independence Day treats available at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Livestreamer Plays Racist Music Over Bluetooth Speaker While Walking Around Tokyo Disneyland

Livestreamer Johnny Somali has been making waves on Japanese social media lately for repeated incidents against Japanese people in public. Before departing the country, he made a final stop at Tokyo Disneyland to engage in more of his antics.

The prominent Kick YouTuber paid a visit to Tokyo Disneyland on Tuesday, June 13 and repeatedly engaged in acts in violation of the park’s rules, including livestreaming, which OLC strictly forbids in their parks.

Twitter user @mrjeffu shared reports of Somali’s visit, reporting that on his streams he was swearing loudly and playing racist music on a portable speaker throughout the park.

One instance taken from his livestreams on Kick, a small livestreaming platform alternative to Twitch particularly known for gambling livestreams. The video above shows Somali offering viewers to pay in exchange for playing whatever song they want on his speaker while in line for Big Thunder Mountain. Viewer discretion is advised.

Security confronted him multiple times, as streaming is not allowed at the Tokyo parks, and he gave a litany of excuses, saying he was “just recording video” or that he was “on a FaceTime call with family.”

Somali has made waves on Japanese social media after a widely-reported incident where he harassed riders on Tokyo’s trains regarding World War II, invoking Pearl Harbor and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to an innocent passenger before vowing “we’ll do it again.” The clip went viral after another passenger, a visiting Korean-American tourist, confronted Somali for harassing passengers on the train.

During his time in Japan, multiple people harassed and assaulted him on the street as a result of the train incident, including one YouTuber notorious for catching train harassers in the act.

Somali has since left Japan.

Incidents at Tokyo Disney Resort

TDS Guest Fountain

Compared to the US Disney parks, guest incidents are relatively uncommon at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Perhaps most notably, last summer a guest was caught climbing out-of-bounds into a fountain within Arabian Coast at Tokyo DisneySea, and went viral on Twitter though he was reprimanded by a nearby Cast Member.

Late last year as well, a man was tackled by security Cast Members after running in front of the “Disney Christmas Stories” parade floats at Tokyo Disneyland. The man laid down right as the unit was approaching, although once he tried to escape, show control Cast Members were forced to lay on top of him until Chiba Prefectural Police could arrive on the scene and arrest the man.
