D23 Gold Members will be able to get an exclusive collectible “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” paper coaster at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs.
Disney said the coaster is “coming soon” so it is not available at the bar yet. D23 Gold Members will need to show their D23 Gold Membership Card to receive the limited-release coaster with the purchase of a beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) from the “Signature Libations” menus. The coaster features a design inspired by the titular Dial of Destiny.
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar has also been decorated with new props inspired by “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18. It opened in theaters on June 30.
The MPAA rates the movie PG-13. According to their classification, the rating is due to “sequences of violence and action, language and smoking.” While the rating itself doesn’t add much to what can be expected in the fifth and final film, it is an interesting reminder that the second film of the franchise, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” was a main catalyst (alongside “Gremlins”) that led the MPAA to create the PG-13 classification in the first place.
“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” takes place in 1969, amidst the space race. Indiana Jones will encounter his old enemy, the Nazis, again. The antagonist, Voller, is a villain inspired by Wernher von Braun — a real Nazi who became a NASA engineer.
“It’s full of adventure, full of laughs, full of real emotion. And it’s complex and it’s sneaky,” Ford said at the time. “The shooting of it was tough and long and arduous. But I’m very happy with the film that we have.”
It’s rumored that an Indiana Jones TV series could be in development for Disney+. It remains unclear if the storyline of this series would be a prequel to the films, set somewhere inside the franchise narrative, or following a totally new character rather than Henry Jones Jr. If this series is developed, it would not be the first TV show about Indiana Jones. In 1992-1993, “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” aired on ABC. Harrison Ford made a cameo appearance in one episode.
Jodie-Turner Smith and Greta Lee are the latest additions to the cast of the upcoming third TRON film, TRON: Ares, according to Variety. The political conflict between The Walt Disney Company and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (formerly known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District) took another step forward following the CFTOD’s latest court filing.
In response to Disney’s motion to dismiss, the CFTOD Board started its argument with a statement reading, “Disney’s motion is classic Imagineering, inviting the Court to make believe that reality is whatever Disney dreams up.”
Magic Kingdom Train Station
From there, the document defends the Board’s original position on the matter in which the Board asserts that the Reedy Creek Improvement District needed to change. The Board’s lawsuit stated, “Within its fiefdom, Disney wrote the laws that governed itself, chose whether and how to enforce those laws against itself, and set its own tax rate. No other Florida business, large or small, enjoyed those benefits.”
Magic Kingdom Entrance
The lawsuit also stated, “There is no question that much good came from the special status that the Florida Legislature granted Disney in 1967. But over time Disney used its influence to obtain what must have seemed like permanent exemptions from the democratic checks and balances that apply to all other Florida businesses.” In the Board’s latest filing, these key points are reiterated, along with some new points in defense of the lawsuit.
The Board’s response reads, “Disney first tells this court that Senate Bill 1604 is a valid law that moots the District’s claims. But to make this argument, Disney must hope that this Court will ignore Disney’s claim in federal court that S.B. 1604 is unconstitutional.”
Disney vs. DeSantis
It goes on to say, “In reality, the district’s suit is a live controversy whose resolution will have an actual effect on Disney’s federal action, because if Disney’s contracts are void, nearly all of Disney’s claims in the federal case disappear.” The main argument of the response rests on a key statement: “This Case is not moot.“
Further, the argument continues, saying, “The bottom line is that none of the factual or legal premises upon which Disney’s motion rests are true.” To sum it up, the Board argues that Disney is incorrect in its belief that the case is moot, and the outcome of the case will have “Actual effects” or “collateral legal consequences” in the federal lawsuit and “any subsequent action Disney may bring for breach of contract.”
The Potential Outcome
There was a key line in the Board’s response that indicated future actions may be taken in the case. Reading carefully, the Board suggests that Disney may bring forward a breach-of-contract case against the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. The idea is hinted at in the line that reads, “On top of that, the Court’s ruling will also have real effects in the breach-of-contract action that Disney will surely file against the District.”
Could Disney make the case that there was a breach of contract? We’ll have to wait and see. That said, come July 14th, the Court will have a hearing on Disney’s motion to dismiss. If the court sides with Disney, the District’s lawsuit would be dismissed. As a reminder, there are four main points outlined in the lawsuit:
A. Declare that the Development Agreement is void, unenforceable, and/or invalid
B. Declare that the Restrictive Covenants are void, unenforceable, and/or invalid
C. Issue an order enjoining Disney from enforcing the Development Agreement and the Restrictive Covenants
D. Grant such other relief that this Court may deem just and proper.
On the other hand, if the court decides to move forward with the lawsuit, Disney would be open to further litigation on the matter. The court’s ruling may also impact any new court filings going forward, like the breach-of-contract case brought up by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

We will continue to watch for updates and let you know what we find.
Planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be complicated — especially when you’re trying to choose between 25 resort hotels. If you’ve narrowed down your choices to these hotels, how do you make your final selection?
Whether room size, location, pools, and/or restaurants are most important to you, we share the information that you’ll need to make an informed decision. After all, we want you to stay at the hotel that is best for your family!
Let’s get started and look at all the details so that you can plan your Disney trip with confidence.
Wilderness Lodge
There’s no doubt that Disney vacations are expensive, and no one wants buyer’s remorse when it comes to what can usually be the most EXPENSIVE part of your Disney trip. The best way to tackle such a massive decision like this is with as much logic as possible, so we broke down this comparison into five categories: Common Ground, Theme/Rooms, Pools, Food, and Transportation.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
Let’s get started on your vacation research.
COMMON GROUND
Before we mention their differences, let’s take a look at what Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club have in common. First, both offer Deluxe Resort and Deluxe Villa accommodations with a similar resort layout. For instance, a main lobby building connects guests to the gift shop, rooms, and more. You’ll discover luxurious amenities and unique themeing at both hotels. Plus, both boastmany of the same perks.
The Lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
But, what about the prices? Well, this is where you’ll first see a difference. In fact, you’ll save quite a bit by opting for the Wilderness Lodge. However, the most expensive rooms are large villas.
For the Wilderness Lodge, that means that for the cheapest room at the cheapest time to visit, you can expect to pay around $453 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts), and it goes up to $5,128 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts) for the most expensive rooms at the most expensive time to visit. (Based on 2023 rates)
For the Beach Club, that means that for the cheapest room at the cheapest time to visit, you can expect to pay around $534 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts), and it goes up to $4,763 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts) for the most expensive rooms at the most expensive time to visit. (Based on 2023 rates.)

Let’s dig a little deeper to see what you can get for the money at these resorts!
These are not your standard hotels. You can head out to a Northwestern National Park Lodge at Wilderness Lodge or stay in the seaside setting of the Beach Club.
Rent a boat!
But whether your stay takes you to the rustic wilderness or the charming seashore, you’ll find that both of these options provide delightful Disney amenities.
Wilderness Lodge
Welcome to the beauty and grandeur of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. At Wilderness Lodge, you’ll discover towering redwoods, pristine free-flowing creeks, artifacts, and monuments to American history and its inhabitants. The inspiration for this resort is pulled from various lodges and resorts of the national parks like Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park and Ahwahnee Hotel at Yosemite National Park. Guests feel the full majesty of nature once they enter the grand lobby with soaring ceilings, the massive 82-foot tall Grand Canyon-inspired fireplace, and 55-foot totem poles.
Wilderness Lodge really shines during the holiday season!
Wilderness Lodge also has two different Disney Vacation Club accommodations, Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek, which include villas ranging from basic studio rooms all the way up to multi-room cabins overlooking Bay Lake.
Bathroom
Some of these cabins face the Contemporary Resort and may provide some obstructed views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
Beach Club Resort
If you believe “Life is better at the beach,” then you may want to explore Disney’s Beach Club Resort! Seaside New England serves as the inspiration for this EPCOT-area Resort.
Beach Club Resort
The Beach Club is the sister to Disney’s Yacht Club. However, the Beach Club distinguishes itself with its more laid-back and breezy beach vibe.
Beach Club
That light and airy feel extends, of course, to the guest rooms throughout the hotel. This is a Club Level room, but the hotel hopes to have the rest of the rooms at the resort upgraded by October. The rooms’ look and feel might be changing, but you’ll find that things like desks, side tables, TVs, and bathroom vanities look the same.
NEW Beach Club Rooms
Disney’s Beach Club features standard guest rooms with either 1 King Bed or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed OR 2 Queen Beds or 2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed, as well as Club Level Rooms (up to a Presidential Suite which sleeps up to 7 adults). For standard rooms, guests may choose a Standard View, a Resort View, a Water View, or a Deluxe Room. Standard rooms are 381 sq. ft.
Beach Club Villas
Beach Club Villas have villa-type accommodations with studio (sleep up to five), 1-bedroom (sleep up to four), and 2-bedroom (sleep up to eight) layouts. (Be aware, though, that Villas are currently being refreshed with a planned completion estimated for late 2023.)
Results
Wilderness Lodge delivers a rustic Northwestern escape, while Beach Club features a casual seashore setting. So, this really could be down to what type of vibe you want on your vacation.
For cost, we give the edge to Wilderness Lodge, however if a larger room is important to you, you’ll want to look closer at Beach Club.
When the weather is HOT or you just need a break from park queues, head to your resort pool! After all, the pools have their own unique features and special theming. Feature pools at Walt Disney World hotels usually have at least one slide and also offer poolside activities. Look at the hotel’s recreation schedule for more information. These swimming spots are family-friendly with at least one whirlpool spa.
Stormalong Bay
Note that poolside towels are always complimentary.
Wilderness Lodge
The Wilderness Lodge hosts two pools: the Copper Creek Pool and the Boulder Ridge Pool. Both pools have the natural feel of swimming in a spring. Copper Creek is the main pool, complete with a water slide and the Copper Creek splash area.
Time to swim!
Copper Creek pool overlooks the serene Bay Lake and resort-iconic geyser, Fire Rock Geyser, which spouts off every hour on the hour between 7am and 10pm. (But Cast Members will turn it off for inclement weather, including particularly windy days.)
Wilderness Lodge Geyser
Boulder Ridge pool is a quieter pool closer to the Boulder Ridge section of the resort with rustic themed cabanas, and close proximity to the Geyser Point Bar & Grill.
Beach Club Resort
The Beach Club is not to be outdone in the pool category. Disney’s Beach Club shares a pool complex, Stormalong Bay, with its neighboring resort, the Yacht Club.
Stormalong Bay
Stormalong Bay is a destination on all its own. This pool complex is almost like its own mini-water park, with sand at the bottom and even a lazy river! Whether you take advantage of the ‘shipwrecked’ themed water slide or leisurely float around the lazy river, this pool delights guests of all ages.
Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach Club
Stormalong Bay is also nestled in close to Beaches and Cream, an iconic ice cream shop, providing over-the-top milkshakes, sundaes, and comfort junk food essentials like burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Both have relaxing pools with pool bars, lounge chairs, and splash areas. Again, it might boil down to just what your style is. Do you want to soak in a natural spring with lakeside views, a majestic geyser, and surrounded by serene, wooded trails? Or something a bit more coastal with sand and a lazy river?
Stormalong Bay Shipwreck Waterslide
Our heart leans towards the Beach Club because that pool is just epic! Toes in the sand and relaxing down a lazy river with a shipwreck-themed water slide is our idea of a wonderful poolside escape.
Because we are Disney FOOD Blog, we take food seriously. Very. Seriously. And we love it all. We love the cheap, comfort of plastic cheese, and we love the high-brow sophistication of a wine flight or a multi-course pre-fixe meal. We don’t discriminate; we are a lover of all foods. Since food is SO important, let’s see how these resorts stack up against each other in the restaurant category.
Wilderness Lodge
Wilderness Lodge has five dining spots for you to nibble and nosh your way through the wilderness.
Geyser Point Bar & Grill located near the Copper Creek Springs Pool at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge — is a unique space in that it offers two different kinds of service for guests… all in one cozy and lovely setting.
Geyser Point Bar & Grill
It blends two different dining styles (a Table Service lounge and a Quick Service walk-up counter) and two different menus. The Featured Cocktail list at the lounge boasts beverages unique to Geyser Point, featuring spirits from Northwest distilleries in keeping with the theme of the Resort. Hearty appetizers can be ordered from the lounge as well, while full entrees are available at the connected Counter Service.
Bison Cheeseburger
The open-air restaurant offers gorgeous waterfront views and a fireplace for cool evenings. And don’t sleep on Geyser Point, it’s a destination-worthy eatery with amazing burgers, queso, and unique cocktails, all in a serene atmosphere.
Formerly a signature restaurant, Artist Point’s setting and menu have been entirely transformed with a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs theme for a different experience. Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White is a Character Meal! Guests enjoy a prix-fixe meal and can look forward to Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy stopping by throughout the dinner. And The Evil Queen is even present for a unique photo opportunity.
Snow White
Shhh…..don’t tell anyone our secret. Territory Lounge is one of our favorite hidden gems at Disney World! If your idea of a good lounge is one with cozy seating, specialty cocktails (as well as beer and even wine flights), and some of the best lounge eats on Walt Disney World property, then Territory Lounge is your place.
Territory Lounge snacks
Boasting its own unique menu of lounge noshes, the Disney Food Blog gives it a hearty thumbs-up. The Territory Lounge is a great place to grab a light dinner and drinks with friends in an atmosphere that’s warm and inviting.
Looking for hearty comfort food in a warm, rustic setting? Welcome toRoaring Fork! Roaring Fork offers a variety of hearty entrees and counter service basics (along with grab-and-go options) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a serene atmosphere, with seating both indoors and out.
Bear Mousse Cake
Guests will even find specialty coffee drinks available, and fans of Disney cupcakes will often find some really fun and unique options here that change with the seasons.
The other Table Service option at the Wilderness Lodge is Whispering Canyon. Whispering Canyon Cafe is one of Disney World’s “funnest” restaurants ! With a crew of wayward servers intent on making you laugh and all-you-can-eat down home grub served skillet-style (guests may also choose from a la carte selections), this restaurant is a great one to book for a casual good time — especially if you’re with a group!
Guests at Beach Club have an array of dining options to enjoy, from Disney Character Dining to Quick Service restaurants to a relaxing lounge, and beyond!
Donald Duck at Cape May Cafe!
Cape May Cafe features an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast buffet with Disney pals!Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast is one of the best places to see some of the most beloved Disney characters outside of the parks.
Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast
Though Disney characters are not present during Dinner, the evening buffet meal serves up something unique, too, as all-you-can-eat surf-and-turf gets the spotlight with plenty for landlubbers and seafood fans to enjoy!
Cape May Cafe plate from the buffet
Ah, Beaches and Cream… THIS is the place to go for classic diner eats and GIGANTIC ice cream sundaes in Walt Disney World!
The Famous KITCHEN SINK at Beaches and Cream!
Tucked between the Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts, this authentic soda counter restaurant is decked out in pastels and is complete with a jukebox. And it’s possibly best known for being home to the famous Kitchen Sink: an eight-scoop ice cream sundae (made for sharing with the whole group) served up with EVERY TOPPING in the house!
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Beach Club Marketplace has a limited menu of hot meals along with some stellar grab-and-go and pastry options.
Martha’s Vineyard is a relaxing spot to get a bite and a drink in the evening hours.
Martha’s Vineyard
Specialty cocktails, craft drafts, wines, and a full bar menu are available. The cuisine (a small selection of appetizers) is inspired by a Northeastern clambake, with comforting seafood favorites like clam chowder served alongside a few pub classics like chicken wings.
Thankfully a few substantial entrees (like burgers and chicken nuggets) are on the menu along with the drinks, because you won’t want to leave this amazing pool area!
And remember, all of the restaurants at the Yacht Club Resort are easily accessible to Beach Club guests! These include:
Wilderness Lodge offers a casual vibe with Whispering Canyon Cafe and character dining at Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White! While Beach Club offers the charming Beaches ‘n Cream. These restaurants are fan-favorites.
Mickey AND Minnie?!
We advise looking at the menus to see which resort has more food that appeals to your traveling party.
TRANSPORTATION
Do these resorts offer anything different when it comes to transportation? Let’s see!!
Wilderness Lodge
If Magic Kingdom is your destination, there is boat transportation that sails through Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon to the front steps of the Magic Kingdom. There is also a bus option at peak times or when the weather doesn’t permit boat travel.
Boat Dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
If EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs is your destination, then you can board one of Disney’s buses to transport you to these locations.
Bus transportation at Wilderness Lodge
For complimentary Walt Disney World transportation, guests staying at the Wilderness Lodge will have to rely primarily on bus and boat transportation. However, it is possible to boat to Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Contemporary Resort, then take the monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there, you can transfer to an EPCOT-destined monorail.
Beach Club Resort
The Beach Club is considered an “EPCOT-area” resort. It sits on Crescent Lake, across the lake from Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. This resort is situated in between TWO Disney parks, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Yep, that’s right, you can walk or enjoy a relaxing boat ride on a Friendship Cruise boat to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
We love walking to EPCOT’s International Gateway. Not having to worry about fighting EPCOT’s post-fireworks crowds? Yes, sign us up, please.
Friendship Boat
If Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs is your destination, then you can board one of Disney’s buses to transport you over to these parks.
Skyliner
And as if walkways, boats, and buses weren’t enough options for you, Beach Club guests are also within walking distance of the EPCOT Skyliner station. This means you have easy access to the other Skyliner resorts if you want to go exploring other resorts or just have a relaxing cruise through the sky.
Results
Beach Club wins in this category due to its proximity to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Plus, there is the Disney Skyliner for visiting other resorts! However, if your focus is the Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge may be a better choice for your traveling party.
So, who is the ultimate winner in the Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club battle? We hate to say it, but it depends! You’ll need to decide which theme, dining, pools, and transportation best suits your next vacation to Walt Disney World. Wilderness Lodge standard rooms are smaller, however if cost is your biggest concern, staying here will save you money. However, Beach Club has rooms that will be updated very soon!
Let’s wander over to the Wilderness Lodge!
When we look at transportation, Beach Club is the clear winner. You can’t beat the location!
