Crews have installed paneling on the exterior of Summer House on the Lake, a new eatery under construction on the West Side of Disney Springs.
Summer House Construction
Summer House on the Lake will be right next to Jaleo, a restaurant by Chef José Andrés.
We saw a crew member on the scaffolding around this side of the structure, where yellow weather-proof sheathing has been installed.
The building isn’t fully enclosed in sheathing and paneling yet — the front is still mostly open and exposed.
But we saw more crew members installing white sheathing in a row along the building’s front overhang.
This lightweight GlasRoc sheathing has a water-resistant gypsum core.
Around the back of the building, we saw some blue sheathing.
The sidewalk along the Disney Springs lagoon is still open but thinned by construction walls.
The final gray brickwork paneling has been installed over half of the back.
It extends around the corner next to Jaleo, too.
Summer House on the Lake
Summer House on the Lake was announced in the summer of 2022, taking over the space formerly planned for Beatrix Restaurant. Disney and Lettuce Entertain You had previously announced that Beatrix was merely “on hold,” but it seems they decided not to go forward with that particular project. Lettuce Entertain You is the owner of both Beatrix and Summer House Santa Monica, which are both considered Chicago staples.
Concept art for Summer House on the Lake shows just how much greenery is planned for the exterior and interior of the restaurant.
The interior is mostly white with wood and wicker accents all around, fitting the typical aesthetic at the other two Summer House locations.
