The Boneyard in DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has reopened after a month and a half partial refurbishment.
The Boneyard Reopens
Most of the play area closed on May 1 and reopened this week.
This “fossil fun site” is designed to look like a paleontological dig established in 1947.
It’s for kids aged 10 and under.
There are twisting slides, rope bridges, and caves to explore.
Informative signs teach kids about real fossils and paleontology.
The Boneyard has a bridge running under the massive dinosaur skeleton at the main entrance of DinoLand U.S.A.
At the dig site, kids can help excavate the fossils of a Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex.
There is also shaded seating and large fans for parents and guardians.
DinoLand U.S.A.
This dinosaur-themed Animal Kingdom land was originally supposed to be temporary before a fantasy-inspired land full of mythical creatures was constructed. Unfortunately, the originally planned Beastly Kingdom was canceled, and DinoLand U.S.A. has persisted 25 years later.
DinoLand is home to DINOSAUR, partially inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film of the same name. The carnival-themed area was previously anchored by Primeval Whirl, but the spinning coaster closed permanently with the COVID-19 pandemic and was later demolished. A seating area replaced the ride. TriceraTop Spin is the only other remaining ride.
“Finding Nemo: The Musical” was performed at DinoLand’s Theater in the Wild from 2006 to 2020. The show was shortened to become “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!” which opened in the summer of 2022. Before the “Finding Nemo” shows, Theater in the Wild housed “Journey into the Jungle Book” and then “Tarzan Rocks!”
Donald’s Dino-Bash! is an ongoing celebration at DinoLand U.S.A. featuring character meet and greets from Donald Duck and friends dressed in dinosaur-inspired outfits.
The land’s food and beverage locations are Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites. Restaurantosaurus was refurbished in phases last year. The quick-service cart Dino Diner also permanently closed last year. Read our review of the Dino Dig Ice Cream Sandwich from Dino-Bite Snacks.
DinoLand U.S.A. is decorated for the winter holidays each year.
