More than a month after the catastrophic fire which destroyed the Maleficent dragon in “Fantasmic!” at Disneyland, the setup around the Rivers of America is finally being used for the nightly “Wondrous Journeys” fireworks once again.
“Wondrous Journeys” Returns to Rivers of America
After the fire, the equipment around the Rivers of America which doubles as use for “Fantasmic!” and the nightly fireworks was put out of commission as it was checked by Disneyland for damages. For the first time this week since the fire, guests could enjoy “Wondrous Journeys” with the water screens, fountains, and spotlights.
It makes for quite the picturesque setting all things considered.
The only major change we noticed was that the show no longer uses the lighting towers on Tom Sawyer Island, as they are presumed destroyed after the fire.
No other details were changed in the way “Wondrous Journeys” is presented at the river.
It’s a nice secondary location from which to view the show in case Main Street, U.S.A. is too crowded for your tastes. Guests can also enjoy “Wondrous Journeys” on the facade of “it’s a small world” way back in Fantasyland.
You can watch a video of the experience above.
Guests can enjoy “Wondrous Journeys” through August 31 at Disneyland, after which it will take a break through early 2024 to accommodate the seasonal offerings for Halloween and Christmas.
