It’s time to visit Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and take a look at construction of a new Disney Vacation Club tower on the beach of Seven Seas Lagoon.
Disney Vacation Club Tower Construction
As we previously reported, blue tarps are over many of the window openings on the tower.
The tarps may mean interior construction has begun. The tarps protect construction materials and crew members from the elements.
A closer look reveals that the windows with tarps have new wood frames, with one support down the center. These will presumably be glass doors. The horizontal planks of wood are just for safety.
There are temporary metal fences on a ledge near the top of the tower. Four steel supports have yet to be encased in concrete.
Tall cranes and lifts are on site. One of the lifts was all the way at the roof of the tower.
We could see some crew members inside, too.
This section is still missing some balcony walls and floors.
On the ground, some concrete walls were sitting on truck beds.
A huge pile of dirt is to the left of the tower (when looking from the Seven Seas Lagoon). Concept art suggests a pool will be in this area.
We got another look at the construction site from the Walt Disney World Monorail. Two lines of white pipes are connected at a 90 degree angle on this end of the site.
Past those pipes is the beginnings of a foundation for another wing of the building. Various construction materials sit on the foundation.
A few short concrete walls have been installed here, but not yet a full story of a building.
Two trucks were carrying double archways of concrete. And in front of that, red tape ropes off an area where foundational elements have been buried.
There are a few blue tarps on this side of the building, but not as many.
A lift was near the seventh floor of the elevator shafts.
Some window frames have been installed on this side, too.
Below is concept art for the Disney Vacation Club tower, although designs are always subject to change.
The tower will sit on the edge of Seven Seas Lagoon and have a pool of its own. Projected to open in late 2024, the proposed vacation ownership property would complement the existing resort and evoke the spirit of the Pacific Islands.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been around since Walt Disney World opened in 1971, and recently underwent an extensive refurbishment. While the standard rooms received “Moana” theming, the Disney Vacation Club Studios received “soft goods” refurbishments, meaning only the upholstery, art, and related accompaniments were updated.
The resort also received a new Monorail station and port-cochére. The entrance to the resort was re-themed to match the new structures.
Kona Café reopened after an extensive refurbishment, with all new seating, décor, and more. The Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area and Lava Pool slide were also recently refurbished. The rugs and most upholstery in the lobby of the Great Ceremonial House were replaced, too.
