Hollywood powerhouse Ryan Murphy is responsible for some of the best entertainment of this century, with his name attached to stand-out titles in every genre. Murphy’s work includes a multitude of television series, including Glee, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, 9-1-1, Ratched, and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The 57-year-old creative genius is rumored to be jumping ship with Netflix at the end of his contract this month and may be reuniting with long-time friend and confidant Dana Walden, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Walden is now the co-chairman of Disney Entertainment.
Now, in an ironic twist, Murphy will continue producing installments of Netflix hits Monster — another anthology, with season two focusing on the Menendez brothers — and Watcher for Sarandos, while calling Disney his creative home. Dealmaking terms are being kept under wraps, though the deal market has cooled considerably in five years.
Ryan Murphy’s involvement with Disney could be a breakthrough move, potentially bringing that same creative flair to Disney’s content and eventually replenishing the content on offer after the recent increase in titles we have seen disappearing.
