At Disney California Adventure, a scrim has gone up in the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! queue just before the point guests board the gantry lift.
The black scrim, supported by scaffolding, blocks a small section of the queue a few feet behind the railings just before the loading area.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is located in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, but was created years before the rest of the land. It opened on May 27, 2017, just a few weeks after “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” was released. Avengers Campus opened in 2021.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is a complete re-theming of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, retaining the original ride’s drop tower mechanic.
In the ride, the Guardians of the Galaxy have been captured and displayed by the Collector. Guests join forces with Rocket to save his friends.

Earlier this year, new warning signage was installed in the load area to combat a TikTok trend that flouts safety rules in favor of extra thrill.
Disney recently shared video of a free-roaming young Groot robot that they have been play-testing with Disneyland Resort guests.
The playtest involves Groot and Star-Lord having a dance-off with the audience, similar to the permanent “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!” show in front of their respective Disney California Adventure attraction.
Despite these being semi-public tests, Disney stated “There are no immediate plans for use [of these figures] in Disney theme parks; however, a prototype in the form of Groot is being used to test unique traits, gaits and capabilities.”
