Top 3 Things We Love at EPCOT’s United Kingdom Pavilion

EPCOT’s United Kingdom Pavilion sits between International Gateway and the Canada Pavilion. Here guests can find a handful of shops, eateries, and entertainment. I recently took a stroll through the pavilion, and honestly, I felt some negative feelings towards it. It just felt so empty and lackluster. When I realized I was going down a negative rabbit hole, I shifted my mentality and focused on the top three things I love about this area. Let’s take a look at the list I created!

Fish and Chips!

Fish and Chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop are a must-do for many Disney fans. My family has always loved eating here for dinner on our EPCOT days. We would always have an early and big lunch at a table service restaurant, and then for dinner, we’d grab fish and chips. I always skipped this tradition because when I was younger, I hated fish. The other day I finally walked up to the window and ordered the famous fish and chips. I checked with the cast members regarding my allergy, and they brought out a chart showing there was no dairy in the batter, so it was safe for me.

Thankfully, I found a shaded spot and enjoyed my meal. I was so surprised that I liked the beer-battered fish, and now I want to order it again. What I did learn was that this is not something I can eat by myself; I would have to share it because it was just so much food. Eating this while it was scorching hot outside was not the best choice I made that day, but I can see how this would be the perfect meal during the colder months.

Now that I finally tried these fan-favorite fish and chips, I can say that I am a fan and think it makes the pavilion more enjoyable.

Unique Characters

At the United Kingdom Pavilion, guests will find two lovely characters they can meet. Alice and Mary Poppins, in my opinion, are the main reasons families stop here. I saw the lines grow continuously for both of these whimsical characters while I was walking around. Eventually, I did hop in line to see Alice once the line had calmed down. Mary Poppins had a very long line and was in a different location by the lagoon across from the restrooms. Since I didn’t want to jump in the enormous line, I stood to the side and just gave her a wave.

If characters aren’t your thing, but British rock is, be sure to carve out some time to watch Command Performance. This band plays British rock from the 1960s through the 1990s in the United Kingdom gazebo.

Rose & Crown Dining Room and Pub

I have never eaten in the dining room but have visited the pub many times. Several friends in my life can’t leave EPCOT until they’ve visited the Rose & Crown Pub. For many of them, it’s a Disney tradition that makes them happy and reminds them of their family. So, of course, I always follow them. I love the atmosphere and, weirdly, the sense of community that radiates throughout the pub. There are hightop tables and some standard tables sprinkled within the bar area. It’s a perfect spot to eat fish and chips with your favorite drink.

As for the dining room, I have heard nothing but great things. Many travelers have told me that it’s the best part of the pavilion and that the food is delicious. A handful of them have also told me that it is a very underrated restaurant with a menu perfect for less adventurous eaters. This restaurant is currently on my list of places I need to eat at, but just from the looks of it, I’m sure I’ll love it.

Final Thoughts

This pavilion definitely needs some love. I wish they would open the room that Winne the Pooh used to meet in because it was such a cute set and the perfect place to meet that silly old bear. Hopefully, one day they do add an attraction here. I would love it if they could just put the Mary Poppins plans they had into action. Personally, I think that is the only thing this pavilion is missing. It’s filled with shops, has a handful of food options, and offers entertainment. All it’s missing is some type of attraction, whether it be a museum, a movie, or even a walkthrough experience.

Anyway, now that I’ve listed the three things I love about the United Kingdom Pavilion at EPCOT, I’d love to know if your list is similar. Please leave your list in the comment section!
