With last week’s announcement of Disney Jollywood Nights, I thought it might be interesting to hear what our readers think about this new hard-ticketed event potentially creating some competition with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. I’ll share my thoughts here, and I’d love it if you’d share yours in the comments!
These two events sound so different in vibe and general nature that I personally don’t think they’re going to compete with each other at all. In fact, if I were planning a vacation to Walt Disney World this holiday season, I would want to attend both parties, which would be totally doable because Jollywood Nights is being held on dates that don’t coincide with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Of course, that would be a pricey proposition as these special events are by no means inexpensive at over $159 per person at the lowest, depending on the date.
The thing is, I’ve always been a massive fan of Disney’s hard-ticketed events. They always provide me with a hefty dose of everything that Disney does so well, and the unique entertainment and merch only available during those events is the cherry on top for me. The fact that Disney allows ticketholders to enter the park a couple of hours before the start of the event makes it so we can hang out by the pool during the day (there are still HOT days in November and December in Central Florida) and even get a nap in.
Disney’s announcement about Jollywood Nights encourages guests to dress up in their “holiday glam best or festive flair,” as the party is described as having a nostalgic flair with glitz and glam galore. When I first read about the event, it reminded me of dining in 1923, a lovely vintage-style restaurant aboard the Disney Wish. On the night I was there, many guests donned 1920s clothing like fringe flapper dresses and whatnot. It was super cute, and I’d love to see guests in this attire at a holiday party inside Hollywood Studios. How fun!
I also have to mention that the holiday décor at this park is among some of my absolute favorite in all of Walt Disney World. There are so many new experiences to be had at this event as well, with The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along, the “other-worldly soiree,” Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy hosting a live show, and so much more. With Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, I feel like the vibe is more of an ugly sweater event or even a holiday spirit jersey, more of a classic holiday style, which I also love. This is the party where all the holiday Mickey ear headbands and Mickey Santa hats come out. Attendees are treated to classic Christmas songs in Magic Kingdom, while the music at Jollywood Nights will be “modern beats over classic holiday songs.” I love all things Christmas, in pretty much whatever style it is delivered, and I don’t require much convincing if I’m being frank. I love it ALL! Even with the Cinderella Castle Dreamlights seemingly gone, I still think the party is a must-do.
