A Walt Disney World Cast Member and their service dog named Pluto reportedly helped a guest who appeared to be having a heart attack at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week.
Around noon on June 21 at Star Wars Launch Bay, a female guest appeared to go into cardiac arrest outside the Darth Vader meet-and-greet. A Star Wars Launch Bay Cast Member happened to be working with their medical alert dog, and they were able to render first aid to the guest until the paramedics arrived. The Cast Member and dog continued to help the guest’s family, including her infant son.
The service dog (pictured above) is appropriately named Pluto and is from Waxahachie, Texas. The photo was provided by an eyewitness who contacted WDWNT with their story.
Many Disney Cast Members have service dogs, which are individually trained to alert and assist their owners with various medical issues, such as heart problems. Last month, Disney introduced Noodle, the “first canine Imagineer” and Noodle’s owner Jacklyn, a communications professional intern at Walt Disney Imagineering.
Guests can also bring service animals to Walt Disney World theme parks. According to Walt Disney World’s rules, service animals are classified as dogs or miniature horses. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed in the parks.
