Walt Disney World has introduced the park-specific update to their Genie+ service with variable pricing depending on the day and park.
Park-Specific Genie+ Model
Here is Disney’s original announcement about the park-specific Genie+ model:
Beginning June 27, Guests at Walt Disney World Resort will now purchase Disney Genie+ service based on how they want to visit. Guests will be able to select either a single-park option or a multiple-parks option, subject to availability. With this update, prices may now be lower at some Walt Disney World theme parks compared to others.
Today is the first day of the updated service. Guests will now be given the option of purchasing Genie+ for just one park or for all four parks. There is no option for just two or three parks.
Genie+ for Magic Kingdom or for multiple parks is $27 per guest. For Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s $24. For EPCOT, it’s $18, and for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it’s $16.
If any of the parks sell out of Genie+ under this new system, the option to have the service for multiple parks will also be discontinued for the day.
The Genie+ Service Explained
Disney Genie+ is a paid replacement to the former Fastpass+ service, allowing guests to make reservations, sometimes called return times, for popular attractions in an expedited queue known as the “Lightning Lane.” Genie+ is good for the entire day, though those only wishing to purchase lightning lane admission for one experience may do so from a limited selection of options. It’s important to note, not all attractions are included, and availability is not guaranteed. Guests can purchase the service on the day of their visit, or include it in their vacation package. We have a full guide to Genie+ available here.
Variable pricing for Genie+, with the price changing depending on the day, was introduced last fall. With variable pricing, the price may be higher on weekends, around holidays, and during peak times of the year like the summer.
Disney is working on simplifying the Genie+ system and allowing guests to make selections before their trip. Purchases and selections will still be made through the My Disney Experience App, with sales going at midnight and first reservations for lightning lanes being available at 7 a.m. daily.
