We Tried 2 Treats at Gasparilla Island Grill in Disney World but TBH We’d Only Go Back for 1

If you’re furiously counting down the days to the holiday season, Disney has just the thing to tide you over!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

We’re on the edge of our seats waiting for an announcement about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and just got a brand new lineup of holiday snacks and popcorn buckets that are coming to the Disney parks and cruise ships, but we’ve got one MORE Disney holiday tradition to talk about! Every year the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa becomes home to an incredible, GIANT gingerbread house. We’re “treated” with all kinds of sweet desserts, but it’s so hard to wait all year long until it comes back around the next holiday season. Luckily Disney’s stepped in with a few holiday treats to give us just the right taste of the festive season while we wait!

Disney is currently celebrating Halfway to the Holidays with some delicious treats! We couldn’t wait to get our hands on these so we popped on over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Gasparilla Island Grill

These treats are available now for a limited time at Grand Floridian’s quick-service restaurant, Gasparilla Island Grill. This is a popular location for seasonal Disney treats to land temporarily so we were glad to see a few of these already out and available! (Warning: the treats are only available through June 15th, so you’ll want to head over quick to try them!)

Menu check

We’re full of festive spirit so we decided to grab both holiday treats so we can tell you all about them. First up we tried out the Brownie Tree Pop!

This cute treat is priced at $7.25 and is returning offering from the annual Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Gingerbread House. This one is made of a chocolate brownie that’s partially dipped in green-colored white chocolate and topped with a white chocolate drizzle and rainbow sprinkles. Here’s a quick peek at the label from the backside of the wrapping.

Backside label of the wrapping

We really liked that Disney has labeled the ingredients on the back side of these seasonal pops. As you take a closer look it’s also pretty easy to identify common allergen ingredients, too. Here’s a photo of it unwrapped so we can show off its sprinkles!

Unwrapped Brownie Tree Pop

It looks so pretty, almost too pretty to eat, but you know we had to dig in!

Just one bite

The brownie is SO soft and chocolatey. It’s fluffy and has just a tiny bit of chew to it. We really loved the white chocolate drizzle on it as it added a little more sweetness and a cute aesthetic overall. Sometimes Disney brownies have a reputation for being dry, but this one isn’t! We really liked it for such a simple treat.

We have just one tiny hang-up with this one… it’s a little bit pricey for the size of the treat. There isn’t much complicated about it flavor-wise, but that didn’t seem to matter much. We do think it would’ve been nice to add a holiday-themed element, like peppermint pieces. We also wanted to add a side warning if you’re planning to pick this treat up for some holiday in the sun, you’ll want to keep it cool or eat it quickly if you’re outside. The chocolate on the treat is made of melting chocolate and not icing so it will melt when it’s out in the heat for a bit and could get messy.

Brownie Tree Pops

We think kids will love it or really anyone who is excited for Christmas, especially chocolate fans. It makes a great option for those who want something holiday-themed but aren’t fans of holiday flavors like peppermint or ginger. We think you’ll be good to pass on this one if you want something a little more unique or don’t like the flavor of white chocolate or melting chocolate.

Next up we tried out the Gingersnap Cookie!

This treat is also a returning offering from the annual Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Gingerbread House and is priced at $5.50 per cookie. It’s a traditional gingersnap cookie topped with candied ginger. These cookies come individually wrapped and — similar to the Brownie Tree Pop — also have their ingredients and common allergens labeled on the back.

Peek at the label

Here’s a look at it unwrapped so you can see the candied ginger pieces on top!

It’s unwrapped

When we bit into this cookie we were surprised! It’s much better than the gingerbread shingles you can buy at the seasonal gingerbread house in the lobby, and it’s a decent-sized cookie. It’s SERIOUSLY bringing the flavor, though, so be prepared for a VERY strong ginger flavor when you get a bite with the candied ginger pieces. The middle of the cookie is soft and pulls apart easily.

Inside look

While we enjoyed the cookie, we felt like the one we picked up was baked just a smidge too long because the edges were a little dry and crumbly. We would call this a ginger cookie for sure but not really a gingersnap because it doesn’t “snap” — it’s more soft in the middle, and we’re not sure that the crunchy outside was intentional.

Individually wrapped

Our other critique of this cookie has to do with the flavor — if you get a bite with multiple pieces of candied ginger, it can be overwhelming. We would recommend trying this cookie if you’re a true ginger flavor fan but you may want to pass if you were expecting a milder flavor with a crispy, snappy cookie.

If you’re missing the holiday spirit and looking to add a little bit of Christmas to your summer these treats are a great way to get you by! You’ll want to hurry and get them quick, though — they’re only available through June 15th. For the latest in Disney snack news, stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog.
