Woman Delivers Baby at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

A “full-time RVer” recently gave birth to her baby in an RV at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in Walt Disney World.

According to her account, all it took was a Facebook post and “small word of encouragement”. Here’s how it happened:

Birth at Fort Wilderness

The following information comes directly from the mother, Miriam, who wrote about her experience in a Fort Wilderness Facebook group and gave permission for it to be shared.

After viewing a Facebook post raving about the affordability of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Miriam and her husband decided to ditch their plans to leave an RV site that they adored for one they were not as fond of.

At 39 weeks pregnant, Miriam, who was already experiencing steady contractions and had planned for a home birth, decided mutually with her husband to “go for it” and reserve their spot at the campground for 8 a.m. the same day they intended to arrive. Fortunately, the couple also had Annual Passholder discounts that they were able to use.

By 12:30 p.m., thanks to an exceptionally helpful Cast Member, the couple had settled into their new “home” for the next two weeks. Miriam described their site as “beautiful with tons of green around”.

Just two days after the couple arrived, they welcomed a healthy baby into their lives and their “home on wheels” at one of their “favorite places ever”.

Baby is healthy and I’m doing well. The birth was peaceful and truly magical! All thanks to advice from a kind stranger.

Other Updates at Fort Wilderness

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground was home to yet another birth just last month as two new foals were welcomed at Tri-Circle-D Ranch last month.

Also at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, we noticed demolition is underway outside of the former Trail’s End Restaurant. Trail’s End Restaurant was a part of Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground that began as a table service restaurant when the building first opened in 1974. On April 17, the restaurant closed to become a marketplace-style quick service location. At this time, an exact reopening date is not known other than “later this year.”

In April, we also learned the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground would be replaced, with 350 new DVC cabins set to open in 2024.
