3 Hotels in Disney World that Won’t Let You Down, We Promise

Planning a Disney World vacation can be a lot of work.

Welcome to Disney World — where ya staying?

Have you researched how to use Genie+? Did you snag all of your dining reservations? Decided on a hotel for your stay? If you’re still struggling with the last one, we are here to help. There are so many resorts to choose from, and they all have their benefits depending on what you’re looking for on your vacation. But, some hotels are particularly reliable. We picked our top three hotels for when we just want to know we’re going to have a good experience. Follow along!

1. Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter

We’re starting off with one of the BEST moderate resorts — Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter.

First, the atmosphere of this hotel is so much fun. You’ll feel like you’re celebrating Mardi Gras no matter what time of year you visit. And, if you are visiting during actual Mardi Gras, there’s a whole party to take part in!

Let’s Celebrate!

In keeping with the theme, this spot has some amazing New Orleans-style food options. Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory serves up classics like shrimp and grits, jambalaya, gumbo, and other fun cajun flavors. And don’t forget, you can grab some Mickey-shaped Beignets at Scat Cat’s Club!

But, if you’re not too keen on the food options here, you’re just a boat ride away from Disney Springs, which is full of great food and entertainment.

For a moderately-priced Disney hotel, this spot has a lot to offer! Plus, it can often feel a bit quieter and more relaxed than some of the Disney hotels closer to the hustle-and-bustle of the parks. Combine that with its relatively small size, moderate resort pricing, and walking access to Port Orleans — Riverside, and you’ve got a WINNER.

2. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Another one of the best-themed hotels you’ll find on property is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

This resort invites you to the “heart of Africa,” with savannas that are home to hundreds of animals. The best part? You can book a room overlooking these savannas!

You can spot zebras, giraffes, okapi, and more — all while you’re sipping coffee on your balcony. Talk about relaxation.

If you want a closer look, you can book a Starlight Safari, an hour-long experience that takes place after the sun goes down — complete with night vision goggles. (Note that this is an extra cost.)

This hotel is also known for having some of the best dining experiences across Disney World. There is a wide range of options here — from fine dining to Quick Service. Boma offers flavorful African dishes and American classics in a buffet setting.

Zebra Domes

Jiko — The Cooking Place is one of the most romantic restaurants on property with an adventurous (and delicious) menu.

And at Sanaa, you’ll find the famous Indian-style Bread Service that you can’t miss.

Even the counter service location, The Mara, offers a nice selection of food options with some more unique bites than your regular chicken tenders and fries.

The only thing that detracts from the amazing experience here at Animal Kingdom Lodge is the less-than-optimal transportation options. The resort is close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but pretty far from the other three parks, and the only way to get there (aside from driving yourself or taking a ride share) is to take one of Disney’s busses. You’ll also want to keep in mind that this is a Deluxe Resort so it’ll come on the high-end in terms of pricing. But, if that doesn’t bother you — this resort is definitely worth checking out!

3. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

At this resort themed after the Pacific Northwest, you’ll feel like you’re right in the heart of nature. This Lodge has one of the grandest lobbies in Disney World, and the atmosphere here is stunning!

In the lobby, you’ll even find a “hot spring” that flows right indoors from the outside. Nearby, a geyser, inspired by Yellowstone National Park’s Old Faithful, sends water high up into the air.

At Christmas, you’ll find a massive six-story tree and some of the best decor around.

Here, you’re also conveniently located near Magic Kingdom. Head to any of the parks by bus, or hop on a boat for a nice ride over to Magic Kingdom.

For dining, this hotel has a unique character meal — Storybook Dining at Artist Point. It’s a prix fixe meal with some really good food, and you’ll get to meet Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen in an Enchanted Forest.

Whispering Canyon Cafe, Geyser Point Bar and Grill, and Roaring Fork are other great dining options that provide a nice variety.

Bison Burger and Waffle Fries

Cozy cabin vibes, great food, and proximity to Magic Kingdom? There are lots of people out there that are BIG fans of this resort and it’s easy to see why.

Just be aware that this is a Deluxe Resort, meaning stays here won’t exactly come cheap.
