The Alice in Wonderland ride at Disneyland has reopened after a second summer refurbishment. Alice in Wonderland was originally closed in early June with fellow Fantasyland rides Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and Peter Pan’s Flight. After a brief reopening, it closed again in early July for crews to complete maintenance.

The dark ride first opened in 1958 but was significantly updated in the 1980s.

Guests board a caterpillar-shaped ride vehicle and are transported into the magical world of Wonderland alongside Alice.

The attraction features a few screens, but mostly physical sets and animatronic characters.

Guests travel through the events of “Alice in Wonderland,” falling down the rabbit hole and traversing the different scenes from the film.

There are a few fun effects featuring the disappearing and reappearing Cheshire Cat.

Guests escape the Queen of Hearts via an outdoor ramp with views of the Matterhorn.

Then they head back inside for a merry unbirthday party.

More Disneyland Construction

Construction and refurbishment projects are never-ending at Disney Parks.

A new themed fence replaced scrim around a lagoon in Fantasyland. The Disneyland Resort Monorail is undergoing a long refurbishment and will reopen in late August.

Meanwhile, Splash Mountain permanently closed on May 31 to be replaced with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is expected to open in late 2024. Crews have been dismantling the iconic Splash Mountain tree atop the attraction.

Almost two years after Tarzan’s Treehouse permanently closed (although we didn’t know it at the time), the re-themed Adventureland Treehouse seems nearly complete. The new attraction inspired by Swiss Family Robinson is set to open this year.

Soarin’ Around the World just opened from refurbishment at Disney California Adventure, but scaffolding remains up around the façade.

Crews expanded the construction site of the Avengers Campus store.

Pacific Wharf has almost completely become San Fransokyo Square, inspired by “Big Hero 6.”

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is being transformed into Pixar Place Hotel.

Downtown Disney District is getting a major expansion featuring Space Age structures. The project is part of the DisneylandForward initiative.
