Our family’s adventure at Walt Disney World Florida began on the second of July, as we checked into the Polynesian Village Resort for a Fourth of July extravaganza. The excitement was palpable, particularly because we were eager to give Ohana, a restaurant we had previously had mixed experiences with, another try.
We had chosen to upgrade to a standard room with a fireworks view, and the anticipation of watching the Fourth of July spectacle from our room was high. Our accommodations were a Moana-themed double Queen room, complete with a pull-out couch, comfortably sleeping five people. While we didn’t have a balcony, our wide glass doors presented us with an enchanting view of Cinderella’s Castle and Space Mountain.
The resort had organized special activities for registered guests for the Fourth of July, including fireworks viewing and poolside activities. Our daytime was spent exploring the resort, including a visit to the Moana Mercantile gift shop. Filled with Moana-themed clothing and a wide range of Disney merchandise, it was a delight for kids and adults alike.
We toured the rest of the lobby, admired the desserts at Kona Cafe, and finally checked in for our much-anticipated dinner at Ohana. Conveniently located near the elevator, and with a bar called Tambu Lounge nearby, Ohana is a popular restaurant known for its excellent view of the fireworks.
The food, served family-style, included coconut bread and a mixed green salad among other dishes. Some were a bit on the saltier side, but overall, the meal was delicious. The restaurant’s lively atmosphere was amplified by a live musician strumming on a ukulele, adding to the authentic Hawaiian experience.
Following our meal at Ohana, we returned to our room just in time for the fireworks. Watching the dazzling display from the comfort of our Moana-themed room was a truly memorable experience.
One minor hiccup was finding bottled water – it took us a while, but we eventually discovered a vending machine on the third floor. Despite this small inconvenience, our day at the Polynesian Village Resort was nothing short of fantastic, leaving us all with smiles on our faces and memories to last a lifetime.
Overall, if you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World Florida, I highly recommend considering a stay at the Polynesian Village Resort. Don’t miss out on dining at Ohana, and do take advantage of the resort’s activities and amenities. It’s an experience you won’t forget!
