Y’all, if you love to eat and love feeling like you’re on a wilderness expedition while doing so, then we have great news for you.
In January of 2023, Disney announced that Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground would close for refurbishment. In the past, the restaurant served family-style skillets for breakfast and dinner, and was a fan-favorite choice for many Disney World visitors. Trail’s End has been closed since February, but not for much longer!
Yep, Disney just announced that Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern are set to reopen on July 27th, 2023, featuring a new look AND some new food. Let’s check it out!
Disney says that both dining locations will have a “fresh, new look that enhances the resort’s quaint charm and honors its heritage at the heart of the Walt Disney World Resort, with warm wooden furnishings, beamed ceilings, and rustic accents.”
Now, let’s talk about food. Trail’s End has been reimagined to a quick-service restaurant. The marketplace concept now includes a pizza station where you can customize your own pie. You can also grab Market-style selections (like cold sandwiches or the Chicken Wrap or the Pioneer Berry Salad) or Hot Grab and Go selections (like pecan-smoked chicken, a rack of pork ribs, and even brisket!)
Sides will include macaroni & cheese, plant-based cowboy beans, and mashed potatoes.
You can also order entrees like cheeseburgers, plant-based vegetable burgers, chicken nuggets, and french fries. Homestyle Meals will also be available and will feature cornbread, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes with gravy and your choice of half a slab of barbecued ribs or two pieces of fried chicken. Of course, there will also be coffee and hot beverage options!
Dessert options include Banana Pudding, Carrot Cake Cupcake, Blueberry Bread Pudding, and the legendary Strawberry Shortcake from Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and Lemon-Blueberry Trifle.
The pastry team has created even more treats, like Fort Fruity Cookie featuring fruity cereal and white chocolate chips or the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake. There will also be a S’more Cupcake and S’more cookie.
Over at Crockett’s Tavern, the area has been refreshed as a longe with both indoor and outdoor seating.
The reimagined menu will feature A Trio of Sliders, a pulled pork slider with BBQ sauce and coleslaw, brisket slider with Carolina BBQ and pickled onions, and a buffalo chicken slider with house-made blue cheese dressing and dill pickles served with seasoned french fries.
You can also get the Chicken Bites, which are also served with celery, house-made ranch, blue cheese, and seasoned french fries. You can also choose your sauce: buffalo, garlic-parmesan, or blueberry BBQ.
Plant offerings include the Crispy Cauliflower paired with a tasty garlic aïoli.
Looking for a sweet treat? You can get the Trailblazin’ Dessert Trio, which is a s’more with chocolate pudding, graham cracker crumbs, and house-made marshmallow, a strawberry shortcake with strawberries and whipped cream, and a banana pudding with vanilla wafers, whipped cream, and a banana chip.
You’ll be able to choose from a variety of cocktails, too. the All Aboard! Moonshine Cocktail Flight is a sampling of our favorite moonshine cocktails featuring the Gullywhumper, Blackberry Lightning, and Spiced Appleberry Shine.
The Bear-y Buckle combines Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey, pure cane sugar, lemon juice, bitters, Fever-Tree Ginger Beer, and muddled blackberries for a touch of sweetness in this cocktail.
The Camper’s Coupe is Laird’s Applejack Brandy, orange and lemon juices, and a hint of maple syrup.
The Meadow’s Cup features Pimm’s No. 1 Liqueur Cup, Hendrick’s Gin, Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, and strawberry.
You could also get the Clementine Old Fashioned with Angel’s Envy Bourbon, Hella Cocktail Co. Orange Bitters, and cane syrup garnished with a clementine wheel and Luxardo cherry.
The Quail Trail Paloma serves up Teremana Blanco Tequila with Hella Cocktail Co. Smoked Chili Bitters, grapefruit soda, and a chili-lime rim.
You can also get the Moonshine Margarita with Ole Smoky White Lightnin’ Moonshine, Triple Sec Liqueur, sweet-and-sour mix, and lime juice.
