Tons of new promotional offerings have appeared for The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man Final Campaign, commemorating the Universal Studios Japan version of this attraction before it closes in January 2024. Let’s have a look:
The Daily Bugle Spots Spider-Man One Last Time
In a “final edition” of the Daily Bugle, this newspaper souvenir recreating “New York’s Finest Daily Newspaper” depicts our webbed hero as he appears on the ride. The headline reads: “Neighborhood Menace Spider-Man Spotted at N.Y. Incident.”
This item is being handed out to those who purchase a Universal Express Pass 1 for this attraction. Please note: other Express passes are not included.
New Photo Op Folder Art
While this photo op of Spidey repelling from a New York building isn’t new, if you choose to get a keepsake print of your picture, a new folder with comics-inspired artwork is now available.
The front shows Spider-Man himself swinging past Safari Outfitters and Finnegan’s, with “Go Spidey!” written above.
On the back, a brick wall and web are depicted, along with “Spider-Man” and “Universal Studios Japan” written in the middle.
In this sample copy, the interior portion with your actual photo includes the catchphrase: “I am your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man,” as the spider signal is projected into the darkness.
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man Sticker Sticker
Stickers are also being handed out for free (while supplies last) with the logo of the ride, Spidey, and members of the Sinister Syndicate in the background.
During the attraction, these villains capture the Statue of Liberty, and when guests get caught up in the action as last-minute newspaper reporters, it’s up to Spider-Man to save the day.
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man: The Ride
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man: The Ride will close one day shy of the attraction’s 20th anniversary, on January 22, 2024.
This attraction opened on January 23, 2004 as the first major expansion to Universal Studios Japan after it opened its doors in 2001. The ride is exactly the same as the version at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Florida, although differences exist in the queue and load structure. The original opened at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in 1999.
A replacement was not announced for the space, though with the official closure of nearby Terminator 2 3-D, a large parcel of real estate has now opened up at the park for expansion. Rumors for years have swirled of a permanent Pokémon presence in this area, but no information is official yet on future plans.
