We’ve seen plenty of flashy snacks and newsworthy desserts over the years, but nothing quite compares to an old classic: Dole Whip. It’s simple yet bright, sweet, and refreshing. Yes, this is officially a Dole Whip fan blog now. Kidding — but really, we love to celebrate Dole Whip around here!

Speaking of Dole Whip, there’s a MAJOR, very important holiday coming up. Is your calendar marked? This occasion calls for the largest of celebrations, so make sure you’ve got your party hats, people.

Dole Whip Day is July 20th, though the citrusy festivities run through July 23rd. To celebrate, we ordered a little treat from Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Disney World. That’s right — you can enjoy Dole Whip desserts without a Magic Kingdom park ticket! Meet the Dole Whip Cupcake for $5.79.

This is a Yellow cupcake filled with DOLE Whip pineapple mousse garnished with a cherry. We had a cupcake just like this last year and we LOVED IT. So how does this version compare?

Well, first, it’s very pretty. It’s also delicious. The cupcake itself was moist with a hint of vanilla flavor. The flavor of this cupcake is VERY pineapple, and the pineapple mousse is both tart and sweet — it really tasted like Dole Whip in a creamy filling.

The part of the cupcake that they dug out for the pineapple mousse was also put on top, so instead of a big swirl of icing, it’s actually MORE cake. Okay, that’s BRILLIANT. Of course, if you’re expecting extra icing, you might be disappointed.
