Okay, you might want to sit down for this.
Why? Because we’re about to hit you with our reviews of THREE new Disney California Adventure snacks. And, well, we’re still recovering from Oogie Boogie Bash ticket sales (y’all, it was NOT pretty). So yes, we’re just eating our feelings at this point, right after we meet up with Indiana Jones. Now on with the reviews…
Two of these snacks were released to celebrate the world premiere of Rogers: The Musical (well, world premiere if you don’t count the fact that it first appeared on the Hawkeye Disney+ series) at the Hyperion Theatre in Disney California Adventure. The first snack comes from Terran Treats and it’s the Like An Apple Pizza Pie for $7.75 at Terran Treats. Yep, apple ON A pizza.
This isn’t just any old pizza, though. It’s a Cinnamon-Sugar Fried Pizza Crust topped with Apple and Cranberry Filling, Streusel, and Cream Cheese Frosting. Basically, it’s a DESSERT pizza. It’s also quite delicious — we liked the sweet apple and cranberry fillings combined with the cream cheese frosting. We also got a hint of cinnamon with each bite. The middle of the pastry was warm, too, and nice and soft.
The outside, though, well…we think it might’ve been a bit overcooked because it was hard and crunchy. We’ve often found the treats here a mixed bag, but we think we just got one that was a bit overdone. Hey, it happens!
Up next is the Pastrami Pretzel Dog at Award Wieners. For $11.99, you get an All-Beef Hot Dog topped with Pastrami, Whole-Grain Mustard, Provolone, Sauerkraut, and Thousand Island Dressing with a choice of Cuties Mandarin Oranges, or Filmstrip Fries.
Yeah, like we’re getting anything BUT the Filmstrip Fries (y’all, they’re so good).
Okay, so we loved the sauerkraut on this dog because it added a nice tangy crunch. The thousand island offered a hint of sweetness, but also some tanginess. The provolone got all MELTY (YES!) and, well, you know how much we love gooey cheese. We didn’t get much flavor from the pastrami, but this dog is worth it alone for those delicious toppings.
Again, though, the Pretzel Bun was a bit of a disappointment. It was kinda hard to bite into and didn’t really seem all that fresh. We’re sensing a pattern here…
Finally, ONE MORE SNACK to go. This one is ALL patriotic because it’s the Red, White, and Blue Sundae for $8.49 from Clarabelle’s. This refreshing snack is made with Strawberry and Blueberry Sorbets topped with Fresh Strawberries, Blueberries, Whipped Cream, and Sprinkles in a Waffle Bowl.
Y’all, this is the ONLY thing you want to eat on a hot summer day.
The sorbets tasted so FRESH with a nice sweetness. The whipped cream on top adds a nice creaminess overall and pairs perfectly with the blueberry and strawberry flavors.
So now that we’re STUFFED, we’re going to go find a park bench and take a little siesta. We’ll be trying even MORE new snacks in Disneyland, though, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
