Is Anyone ACTUALLY Buying These Ridiculous Disney Souvenirs?

Disney merch can be seriously expensive, but there are a few specific items with price tags that REALLY make our wallets go running for the hills.

The Emporium

These merch items aren’t in the same category as the $30 ears or $90 Loungefly bags. No, these price tags get up to the multiple THOUSANDS of dollars. So we just have one question — is anyone ACTUALLY buying these over-the-top Disney souvenirs?

Crystal Cinderella Castle

Who hasn’t dreamed of owning this?

This crystal-covered Cinderella Castle model can be found at the Crystal Arts store on Main Street, U.S.A., in Magic Kingdom. It might look like the perfect centerpiece for your next dinner party, and that’s a great idea as long as that party has a million-dollar budget! This castle currently costs $250,000! (No, we didn’t add too many zeros on accident — that’s two hundred and fifty THOUSAND.)

Disney Fairytale Wedding Engagement Ring

©Disney

This souvenir is one that takes “Disney Adult” to a whole. new. level. You can get married inside Disney World (for a pretty hefty sum of money) OR you can spend a good chunk of your wedding budget on a Disney-themed engagement ring. This one will cost you $14,000 (the matching wedding band is sold separately). As far as wedding rings go, that’s not completely wild, but if we’re talking Disney souvenirs…ya, this one isn’t cheap.

Star Wars Pewter Chess Set

©Disney

This will be the fanciest game of chess you’ve ever played (not counting the one you played on the larger-than-life set at Disney’s All-Star hotels, of course). The set features Star Wars characters like Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and more, which face each other on a tempered glass chessboard. It’s the Rebel Alliance vs. the Imperial Army, a battle that, in this case, will cost you about $2,100.

50th Anniversary Limited-Edition Painting by Thomas Kinkade Studios

©Disney

Art collecting is not a cheap hobby, so we shouldn’t be surprised to see this Thomas Kinkade Studios painting with a price tag in the thousands of dollars. If you’re still missing the perfect 50th Anniversary souvenir (even though that celebration is over now), you can get this piece for just shy of $1,400! (Or, you know, you could also grab the 50th Anniversary electric train set for $300, which sounds downright cheap comparatively.)

Star Wars C-3PO Figurine

©Disney

This Star Wars collectible is a model of C-3PO that’s gilded in 24K gold! Most of the statue is made of pewter, though. There are only 5,000 being made, so it’s a collectors’ item at least. Is it worth the $650 price tag to you?

National Geographic Globe

Last but not least (well, maybe it IS “least” if we’re talking price tag) is this National Geographic Globe. We’ve ended up buying some pretty bizarre Disney souvenirs in our time, but we can’t say we’ve ever walked out of a shop with a globe on a tripod stand before. If this is your jam, though, you can get it for $480, with is quite a bit cheaper than some of the other items on this list!

So what do you think — does anyone actually buy these things? Or are they mostly just fun to look at?
