Once more, we are asking ourselves, “What is going on with you, EPCOT?”
This is gone now, but…
It wasn’t that long ago that EPCOT got rid of those controversial barges and large screen/Stargate thing in the World Showcase Lagoon that was used during the nighttime show Harmonious. Finally, World Showcase was free from what many of us felt were major eyesores. However, that didn’t last long because there are some NEW additions to World Showcase Lagoon, and well, we have some questions.
Well, there are some new things that look like tall poles sticking out of World Showcase Lagoon now. Yep, here we go again. Of course, it’s impossible to tell just by looking at these stick things what’s going on here, so we decided to ask a few Cast Members.
What are these for?
We asked several Cast Members about the poles and were told that they had seen construction crews hammering them down into the lagoon. We’ll have to wait and see if these structures stick around permanently, though. Maybe they will be used for the upcoming Fourth of July fireworks segment of EPCOT Forever or maybe they’re for the upcoming 100th Anniversary show. At this point, we’re not entirely sure what their purpose is — they could just be there to aid in construction.

EPCOT Cast Members informed us that Disney did not share any details on the construction, so for now, those tall poles remain a mystery. In other construction news, there’s a BIG pile of dirt over near the Imagination Pavilion. As you can see, EPCOT is filled with projects right now.

You can be certain we’ll be keeping an eye on anything else that might be added to the World Showcase Lagoon. The poles are not QUITE as distracting as the barges, so there’s that. But we’re curious — what are these for? Perhaps we’ll find out soon. We’ll let you know when we do, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
