On a recent visit to EPCOT, we noticed that the HeiHei parking lot on the Earth side of EPCOT’s parking lot was closed off.
HeiHei Parking Lot Closed at EPCOT
Cones were set up along the road leading to the parking area so that guests would not accidentally park there.
No workers were present in the parking lot when we passed by, but the area smelled as though they were working on the pavement.
As you can see in the photos, the pavement in this lot looks quite new, almost freshly poured.
Since the rideshare drop off area is located in the HeiHei parking lot, guests are now redirected over to the EVE parking lot on the Space side.
Here is the sign for the redirected rideshare and guest drop-off area in the EVE parking lot.
When you book a Lyft or Uber from EPCOT, at least for now, the driver will pick you up here.
A new rideshare loop is currently under construction next to the Hei Hei lot.
The new ride-share loop and accompanying plaza have been under construction since February. Not much obvious progress has been visible since then, but we can now see a foundational line that will presumably be for the plaza.
An opening timeframe for the potential ride-share loop hasn’t been announced.

EPCOT Construction
EPCOT has gained a reputation as a large construction zone in the past few years as the entire park is revamped. Future World was split into three neighborhoods: World Nature, World Celebration, and World Discovery. World Showcase is the fourth neighborhood.
The center of the park, World Celebration, is where most construction has been concentrated. Electric Umbrella was closed and gutted to become Connections Eatery and Café (Starbucks). MouseGear, the park’s major gift shop, was completely reimagined to become Creations Shop. Club Cool also moved to a new location.
Nearly everything behind Spaceship Earth, including Innoventions, was torn down to create a new garden space, CommuniCore Hall, CommuniCore Plaza, and Dreamers Point.
In World Nature (but taking up some of the World Celebration space), Journey of Water Inspired by “Moana” is under construction. The new walkthrough attraction is near complete and Walt Disney Imagineering has been conducting tests with Cast Members, with previews beginning soon.
According to CEO Bob Iger, Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” is the last step in the years-long EPCOT reimagining. It’s expected to open later this year, along with Dreamer’s Point, CommuniCore Hall, and CommuniCore Plaza.
