Haunted Mansion treats have arrived at Walt Disney World Resort in honor of the new film. At Scat Cat’s Club in Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, guests will find new Mickey-shaped Haunted Mansion beignets, as well as the Playful Spirits Margarita.
We visited the resort to try the new beignets.
At Scat Cat’s Club Lounge, guests can enjoy live jazz music every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening.
The Playful Spirits Margarita is Patrón Silver tequila, Cointreau liqueur, and lime juice featuring a Fess Parker red blend floater and black salt rim.
We just got the “Ghoulish Delight” beignets today.
Ghoulish Delight Beignets – $7.49
Three Mickey-shaped beignets dusted with cookies ‘n’ cream powdered sugar and a ghoulish marshmallow crème drizzle
You can never go wrong with French Quarter beignets. This new offering puts what is normally a favorite on full blast with a yummy interpretation of the Haunted Mansion.
The beignets are decorated to be ghostly gray with a purple drizzle.
The cookies and cream sugar is light and does not overpower the fluffy and light beignet.
They put just enough marshmallow drizzle on top to add a little extra sweet kick.
The marshmallow also helps keep some of the powdered sugar on. We would normally be wearing a bite or two.
This is a must-do for any fan of Haunted Mansion and beignets.
New ‘Haunted Mansion’ Movie
July 28 marks the release of the new “Haunted Mansion” film. It features a star-studded cast including Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jared Leto. Dawson portrays Gabbie, who moves into the Haunted Mansion with her son, Travis. They call in Owen Wilson’s priest, Kent, as well as other experts to help take care of their ghost problem. Curtis and Leto portray Madame Leota and the Hatbox Ghost respectively.
“Haunted Mansion” is directed by Justin Simien from a screenplay by Katie Dippold. It’s produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich. It’s the second attempt to adapt the classic ride into a film, following the poorly received 2003 “The Haunted Mansion” directed by Rob Minkoff and starring Eddie Murphy.
The Haunted Mansion
The original Haunted Mansion opened in 1969 as part of the New Orleans Square expansion in Disneyland. Two years later, it was an opening day attraction in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. It was also an opening day attraction at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983.
Phantom Manor is a version of the Haunted Mansion with its own original backstory at Disneyland Paris.
In Hong Kong Disneyland, guests can enjoy Mystic Manor. This ride is inspired by Haunted Mansion but is ultimately a completely different attraction that avoids references to the afterlife out of respect to Chinese traditions.
The famous Hatbox Ghost will be coming to the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom later this year. This ghost was part of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion on opening day, but his effect could not be supported by 1960s technology. He was removed after a few weeks and only returned nearly 50 years later in 2015.
