A new month is upon us, and that means a new monthly special cookie at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs. For July, the Coconut Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie has returned, and the Key Lime Chocolate Chip is back for the Flavors of Florida festival.
Lydia Lovecraft returns on the front of the menu this month. Read her story below.
The Strange Song of Lydia Lovecraft
Known as the Spooky Uka-Lady, Lydia Lovecraft worked as a sought-after medium who traveled the countryside, reuniting the heartbroken with their loved ones passed. Though she possessed a hauntingly beautiful voice, her true power came from the hypnotizing melodies that poured from the mystical ukulele she played. Fashioned from little more than a coconut shell and scraps of sandalwood, this instrument could summon the slumbering spirits.
Key Lime Chocolate Chip Cookie – $6.00
vanilla bean cookie dough infused with Florida key lime juice and covered with chocolate chips and our special key lime pie crumbs.
Since this cookie is returning for Flavors of Florida, it will be available through August 13 instead of leaving at the end of July.
The Key Lime Chocolate Chip Cookie is the standard almost 1/2 pound rendition and looks very much like their Original Chocolate Chip, but with a spattering of sea salt and cake crumbs over top. The rich chocolate chips and under-baked dough you’ve come to expect are present.
The lime flavor is subtle, matching the look of their Original Chocolate Chip Cookie in taste as well as looks with just a squeeze of key lime for flavor. Key lime is normally a very strong, tangy flavor, so we were expecting more of a punch with this one, but it cut through the chocolate and salt nicely – just not so in-your-face as you would expect.
Toasted Coconut Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie – $6
This cookie is a must-get for coconut lovers.
The caramel cookie is moist and perfectly baked. The caramel flavoring is not overwhelming.
It’s coated in chocolate and coconut chips. The coconut chips do tend to fall off but add a crunch when you get them in a bite.
Like many Gideon’s Bakehouse cookies, it is also sprinkled with sea salt that helps break down the sweetness of the chocolate.
Both limited time cookies are worth a visit to Gideon’s Bakehouse.
