Unexpectedly Dangerous Places in Disney World

What if I told you that Disney World isn’t as safe as you think?

Walt Disney World

To be sure, in general, not only is it the “most magical” place on Earth, but it’s known for top-notch safety and security. I mean, the rides are constantly inspected and refurbished, and just have a look at all the inspection points on the way in. Those security dogs aren’t just there to look cute. There are, however, some unexpectedly dangerous places within Disney World and you might be shocked about what’s on the list!

I need to spill the beans on some unexpected places at Disney World that can be a tad dicey. I’ve got insider info that’ll help you navigate these potential hazards like a pro. So, buckle up, because we’re about to embark on a wild adventure through the hidden perils of the happiest place on Earth!

1. The path between Saratoga Springs and Disney Springs

Believe it or not, there’s a path between Saratoga Springs and Disney Springs that’s so sketchy, it literally has a sign warning you not to stroll through there after dark.

I know, right? It’s pretty unnerving. There have been quite a few people that have had some traumatizing encounters on that infamous path. So, unless you’re craving a horror movie experience, I’d steer clear of it at night.

2. The notorious crosswalk between the Contemporary and Magic Kingdom

Okay, picture this: with the construction going on at the Polynesian Village Resort, more people are using the crosswalk between the Contemporary and Magic Kingdom as a shortcut to the residential areas.

It’s getting pretty crowded and chaotic. Watch out for the hurried souls dashing across the road, and keep your wits about you in this area.

3. Watch out for deer near Fort Wilderness

Disney’s Fort Wilderness might seem like a tranquil forest retreat, but be wary of unexpected visitors—deer!

These beautiful creatures roam around, and sometimes their paths intersect with the roads. I’ve even witnessed a few fender-benders caused by deer darting out near the curve from the Fort Wilderness exit. So, slow down and stay alert in this area.

4. Standing on precarious structures for a better view of fireworks

Lately, I’ve seen people perching on planters, concrete barriers, and whatnot to get a better view of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.

Happily Ever After

I mean, seriously, folks, it’s not worth risking a fall or injury just for a slightly better sight. Let’s remember to enjoy the shows from safe and designated viewing areas, shall we?

5. Navigating the Orlando traffic chaos

Ah, driving in Orlando—it’s a whole different ballgame. We’ve got lost souls, anxious first-timers, confused tourists, and people who just seem to have no clue about the rules of the road.

It can be a wild ride out there. So, my friend, give yourself plenty of time, maintain a safe following distance, and prepare for those sudden maneuvers from our fellow nutty tourists. Trust me, it’s better to be patient and keep your cool amidst the chaos.

6. Avoiding the infamous I-4

I’ve got a golden nugget of advice for you: Steer clear of I-4 whenever possible. It’s notorious for its traffic congestion, and you don’t want to find yourself stuck in the midst of it all.

Explore alternative routes, use navigation apps, or take advantage of Disney transportation to save yourself from the I-4 madness.

7. The tricky TTC parking lot and changing walkways

The Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) can be a real labyrinth, especially with ongoing construction and shifting walkways. It’s like a puzzle that changes every time you visit.

Keep your eyes peeled for those fast drivers in the parking lot and be prepared for the unexpected as you navigate through the evolving walkway configurations.

8. Slippery surfaces after rain

Even the magic of Disney can’t control the weather.

When it rains or shortly after, some of the concrete patterns or paint on the pathways can get a bit slippery. So, take it slow, watch your step, and save those impromptu dance moves for drier ground.

9. Dimly lit walkway near Grand Floridian and Shades of Green

Here’s a cautionary tale about a walkway that cuts across the road between Grand Floridian and Shades of Green. Let me tell you, my friend, it’s dimly lit, and you won’t believe how many close calls

I’ve witnessed. People just strut across the road, assuming traffic will magically stop for them. Thankfully, it’s currently closed for renovations, which is a big relief.

10. Stroller mayhem and toppling kids

Strollers can be a blessing for tired little feet, but they can also be a hazard if we load them up with all our stuff and then get a little too distracted. I’ve seen it happen way too often—parents excitedly pointing at things in stores or getting caught up in the magic, while their overloaded strollers take a tumble or their little ones topple out.

So, let’s keep those strollers balanced and always keep an eye on our precious cargo.

11. ECVs

It’s always good to stay on guard, whether it’s navigating busy walkways or watching out for those ECVs that sometimes get a little too close for comfort.

I’ve witnessed my fair share of close encounters, and it’s not a pleasant sight, let me tell you.

12. Watch your step on Main Street tracks

We’ve all heard the saying, “Keep your eyes on the prize,” but on Main Street at Magic Kingdom, it’s more like, “Keep your eyes on the ground.” Those charming trolley tracks might seem innocuous, but I’ve witnessed a rather heartbreaking incident.

Don’t fall in the tracks!

There was this dad, totally mesmerized by the sight of Cinderella Castle, who stepped off the sidewalk without realizing there was a curb. Poor guy couldn’t get back up. It was such a bummer to witness his magical moment turn into a stumble. So, my friend, let’s be aware of those curbs and make sure our feet are firmly planted on solid ground.

In fact, it’s so common to trip on these tracks that we made a t-shirt about it! – check out this one and other, fun Disney-themed graphic tees and more in our merch store by clicking here!

13. Hydration and fainting prevention

This one might seem like common sense, but it’s worth emphasizing. Staying hydrated and nourished is crucial, my friend.

Trust me; people drop like flies if they haven’t consumed enough water and food. So, let’s take care of ourselves, pack some snacks, and remember that a well-fueled body equals a magical and faint-free Disney experience.
