If you don’t plan it right, this hiccup could ruin your Disney day.

We all have our favorite Disney rides. Some of us love the thrill rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout while some love classic rides like Mad Tea Party for nostalgia. But ride closures happen and are necessary. In Disney World, we recently saw a multiday closure of The Haunted Mansion. Now, there’s a very popular ride in Disneyland closing for an extended time.

Space Mountain in Disneyland is a fan favorite. While Space Mountain in Disney World did open first, it was placed in Disneyland in 1977 after it was wildly popular. But Disneyland might ultimately win this battle because Disneyland’s Space Mountain rockets guests through space at 32 mph, while Disney World only does so at 30 mph — so it is usually a stop for all Disneyland visitors looking for a thrill.

However, beginning on September 18th, fans will not be able to ride this attraction while visiting Disneyland. We noticed on the Space Mountain page that the ride will close and reopen in mid-fall 2023.

If you have a trip scheduled to Disneyland this fall, you’ll want to make note of this closure. But there are a few other things changing this fall as well.

Space Mountain is just one of the things in Disneyland closed for refurbishment. Along with it is Paradise Garden Grill which is scheduled to be closed on August 24-26th. Sailing Ship Columbia will be closed September 11-15th and Mark Twain Riverboat is closed September 17th with no reopening date yet. This of course is in addition to the long-time closure of Fantasmic! after the fire that took place earlier this summer.
