“Brave” tapestries have been removed from the entrance to the Fairytale Garden area in Magic Kingdom as it is transformed into Casita Madrigal from “Encanto” for a Mirabel meet and greet.
Mirabel Meet and Greet Construction
A green construction wall and green scrim covers the front of the “garden.” A crane arrived on site in mid July, soon after the Merida meet and greet closed. “Brave” banners resembling tapestries previously framed the entrance, which is off the walkway between Cinderella Castle and Tomorrowland.
The green shade was removed from above the meet and greet’s stage soon after it closed. Some “Brave” props and tapestries still remain on the stone walls inside.
Metal grates were removed from the rectangular holes in the walls.
A grate was also removed from the rounded spot just barely visible on this wall.
Presumably, a new “Encanto”-inspired shade will be installed to keep guests and Mirabel protected from the sun. The shade’s support structure and ropes remain in place.
From around the corner, we saw a few trees with green scrim wrapped around their trunks.
It looks like some trees may have already been removed and these wrapped trees may be removed next. One is marked with a red string, which usually indicates removal.
Green scrim is around the bases of three trees on the other side of Fairytale Garden, too.
Merida met guests at Fairytale Garden for a final time on July 8. Starting on July 9, she began meeting guests at the Liberty Square gazebo. Before Fairytale Garden held the Merida meet and greet, it was home to Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
Disney filed a permit contracting the Adena Corporation to work on Fairytale Garden. The construction contractor has previously partnered with amusement parks like SeaWorld and Six Flags.
The Mirabel meet and greet will open on September 15. On the same day, her uncle Bruno will join the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade. The cavalcade debuted in February 2022 and Mirabel joined it later that summer. It’s possible Bruno will be taking Mirabel’s place now that she has a meet and greet, or will just join her on the float.
Merida has appeared at Disneyland Resort multiple times at both parks. See her in Frontierland below.
Bruno also appeared at Disneyland Resort during Oogie Boogie Bash in Disney California Adventure last year.
The Mirabel meet and greet was recently added to the Walt Disney World website with a picture from Mirabel’s 2021 Disney California Adventure appearance, implying the theming of Fairytale Garden will be similar.
