Disney World is the most magical place on earth, right?
Your trip should be filled with laughter, fun, and maybe even a few happy tears. However, we have seen some things at Disney World, that we wish we could unsee! Since we’re in Disney World every day, we thought we would share the cringest things we’ve seen people do at Disney World.
Being Rude to Cast Members
Unfortunately, we’ve seen guests be rude to Cast Members — this is not okay. Cast Members work hard, and they often are juggling many things at once. They are there to keep guests safe and help everyone have a great vacation. Sometimes guests might not understand why they are being asked to do something or why they cannot do something — this can cause frustration.
When interacting with Cast Members, be kind. They do a lot for guests and they really are the magic of Disney World. We’ve seen them create some pretty great magical moments for guests. So on your next trip, be sure to thank them for all they do.
Dipping Cooling Towels
We get it — it’s hot in Disney World, especially in the summer. We recommend packing some cooling towels with you for your trip. These can help keep you cool and allow you to be hands-free. However, our reporters have recently witnessed something disgusting happening.
Cooling towels are activated by getting them wet, and some guests have started dunking their towels in public fountains around Disney World. We have seen guests take their towel, which is covered in sweat, and put them into fountains around the parks. GROSS! Instead, use water from the restroom sinks.
Leaving A Mess
When you’re eating at a quick service location, you have the responsibility of cleaning up after yourself. This means you should be throwing away all trash items and picking up items around you. Unlike a table service restaurant, you will need to clean up after yourself. We have seen some guests just leave their trash, trays, and dishes lying on the table for someone else to clean up.
PDA
There’s nothing more awkward than being behind that couple in line that is just all over each other. We get it, you’re in love, but be aware of others around you.
Fighting
For Disney to be the most magical place on earth, sometimes guests miss that memo. We’ve seen our fair share of fighting happening in families on vacation. We’ve seen parents yell at kids, kids yelling at each other, and couples fighting. Disney World can be stressful if you let it be. Take a breath and remember you’re on vacation. You want to leave with good memories, not bad ones.
Yelling On Rides
For whatever reason, we’ve been on rides where there’s a guest obnoxiously yelling or talking loudly. On Tower of Terror, we’ve had guests scream at the top of their lungs. It’s not a fun “wooooh” scream, it’s like from a horror film.
We’ve also seen guests talk pretty loudly on rides. Everyone wants to enjoy the ride and take it all in. That can be hard to do with others being a distraction.
Using Flash Photography
On dark rides, like the Haunted Mansion, guests are specifically told not to use flash photography. Yet, we often see people still using it. This can ruin the ride for others and could cause the ride to actually temporarily pause. This is also true during some shows where the lighting is darker. At the Festival of the Lion King, guests are asked not to video with their flash on as it is dangerous to performers. Just be cautious of using your flash and follow any directions given.
Resellers
Unfortunately, resellers have become a big issue at Disney parks. When a new collection drops, we can often find resellers purchasing multiple items for the sole purpose of reselling them online at a markup. This takes away from other guests who want to purchase items for themselves. Disney has started to limit the amount of items someone can buy, which can help.
Reciting The Lines
We promise that no one needs to hear you recite out loud the pre-show to Rock n Rollercoaster. For some guests, this is their first time riding the attraction or seeing the show, and having someone else talking over the recordings can be distracting. It’s great you’ve been to Disney often or maybe this is your favorite ride. Just be cautious of how loud you are and be courteous to others.
In the spirit of all of these, be kind and be aware of the people around you. For more Disney tips, be sure to follow us at DFB.
