The Walt Disney Company’s Q3 Earnings Report was released yesterday, and among the headlines we saw from it, there was one in particular that might not please the average Disney fan. If you are a Disney+ subscriber, the numbers of which are still decreasing according to the report, you likely won’t be thrilled to hear that the Ad-Free tier of the Disney streaming service is set to increase in price again.
From October 12th, the Disney+ Ad-Free Tier will increase to $13.99 per month. The $3 jump comes from the current price of $10.99, equating to around 27%. The cost of the Ad-Free tier of Hulu will also be on the rise at $3, bringing the new monthly cost to $17.99. No changes were announced for the ad-supported tiers.
As the cost of streaming services advances, Disney also declared that they would soon be cracking down on password sharing, a practice commonly used to avoid the added price burden. The company is looking at new strategies to cut down on the instances of password sharing in a similar fashion to Netflix, a move that reportedly gained them a substantial increase in subscribers.
At the new price of $13.99 per month, would you continue with a Disney+ Ad-Free subscription?
