While Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are used to hurricanes, their California counterparts rarely see such weather. The storm has weakened from a Category 4 with maximum wind speeds of 145 mph down to a Category 2 with 110 mph winds. It is expected to make landfall as a tropical storm on Saturday night or early Sunday morning. There will likely be significant flooding and power outages through Monday.

According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland is “taking standard foul weather precautions” and guests should monitor the Disneyland app for updates.

Universal Studios Hollywood is monitoring the storm and expects to remain open on Sunday and Monday, but also advises guests check their website for updates.

A tropical storm has not made landfall in Southern California since September 25, 1939. No hurricane has ever made landfall in the State of California during recorded history.
