EPCOT did something VERY unpopular back for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.

It put huge barges and a massive Stargate structure in the middle of World Showcase Lagoon for the 50th Anniversary nighttime show, Harmonious. Disney fans breathed a sigh of relief last year when those structures were removed. BUT NEW structures have since taken their place. Well, we’ve got an update on that, and you might not like it.

So we’ve been seeing these new additions in World Showcase Lagoon lately, and we think they might be there for the NEW EPCOT nighttime show that’s coming soon to celebrate the Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary.

Well, things have changed since we last checked because you’ll now see a hexagonal platform in the middle of the Lagoon.

Thanks to @bioreconstruct, we have an aerial photo of these new structures, which also include pilings around the hexagon.

At this point, we can be almost certain these are for the new nighttime show, although Disney has not yet made an announcement about it — and we don’t even know when the show will debut. Come on, Disney. Tell us what’s happening!

Here’s a look at some barges spotted backstage by @bioreconstruct. Could these be brought out each night before the fireworks show begins? We’ll have to wait and see! The 100th Anniversary Celebration will officially come to EPCOT on September 22nd, so we think we might get an announcement soon. We’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for updates and will let you know the details when we have them. So stay tuned to DFB for more.

For now, though, we can just watch these structures being added to World Showcase Lagoon and be happy that they don’t seem to be as much of an eyesore as the Harmonious barges.
