How To Spend a Non-Park Day at Walt Disney World

When planning your Walt Disney World vacation, it can be a good idea to leave some room in your schedule to take a break from the theme parks. Some people might refer to it as a Resort Day, where you leisurely enjoy the pool and other immediate amenities; however, I like to plan a little more broadly. Even though the time by the pool might be a nice recovery for your legs and feet from all the walking in the parks, I prefer to make the most of the surrounding area. Here are eight things you can do on your non-park days in the Walt Disney World Resort.

Catch A Round Of Golf

Whether you know what you’re doing or are starting from the beginning, Walt Disney World has some beautiful golf courses for your family to explore. Enjoy the tranquility and try your hand at this beloved sport as you stroll the well-kept grounds. Not feeling up to the bigger courses? Check out the Miniature Golf options, like my favorite, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf!

Spend A Day In Disney Springs

Disney Springs has so much to enjoy; it would be easy to spend an entire day there. Outside of the shopping areas that carry some of your favorite stores, you can also take in a show like Cirque Du Soleil’s Drawn to Life or enjoy a uniquely Disney experience like Aerophile! Take a long lunch at one of the area’s famous restaurants and take a look around this magical area.

Visit A Disney Water Park

If you love Disney and you love a good water park, who not put the two together? There is no good reason. If the weather is warm and you have a free day, head over to one of Walt Disney World’s two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. Enjoy a day with your Disney pals cooling off with waterslides, lazy rivers, and a leisurely day in the sunshine.

Go Fishing

If you don’t live in an area where going fishing is an option, take the opportunity to do something new with your family and give it a try. There are several options for fishing in the Walt Disney World resort, including Guided Bass Fishing Excursions.

Try Canoeing Or Kayaking

Did you know that you can rent kayaks or canoes while you stay at Walt Disney World? Take a peaceful trip along the waterways of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Kayaks and canoes are available from The Bike Barn in the Meadow Recreation Area from 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM daily and are priced at $13.00 per hour.

Go Horseback Riding

Horseback riding is another activity that might strike your fancy while you stay in Walt Disney World, with several opportunities to enjoy these stunning creatures. Take a carriage ride with the family or enjoy a trail ride for some quiet time and make some unexpected memories in between the thrills of your theme park days.

Visit Disney’s BoardWalk

Disney’s BoardWalk area is a quarter-mile promenade of exciting restaurants, unique shops, and entertainment, as well as hosting deluxe Resorts, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn & Disney’s Boardwalk Villas. This area that connects EPCOT and Disney’s Holywood Studios has everything from arcade games to thrilling nightlife and is a beautiful spot to stroll in a Coney Island-meets-Atlantic City-style setting.

Treat Yourself To A Spa Day

Visiting Walt Disney World can make for a wonderful vacation, though it isn’t usually the relaxing experience we need when taking a break from our day-to-day. Seize the moment on your non-park day to enjoy some of the indulgent Spa services that can be found in resorts like the Grand Floridian.

Did you know that all of those eight options were at your fingertips when visiting Walt Disney World? If the answer is no, then be sure to add some of those experiences to your to-do list the next time you are staying nearby. There are so many more as well, like bike rentals and archery; you are sure to make some long-lasting memories when taking advantage of the lesser-known recreational opportunities in the area. Ask your Dreams Unlimited Travel agent for more details on booking and pricing.
