The live-action “The Little Mermaid” adaptation will start streaming on Disney+ on September 6, 2023.

“The Little Mermaid” was directed by Oscar-nominated Rob Marshall, known for his work with “Chicago” and Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns.”
The remake stars Halle Bailey as Princess Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian the crab, Awkwafina as diving bird Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. Noma Dumezweni portrays Queen Selina, Eric’s mother, a new character for the live-action film.
Alan Menken, who wrote the score for the original 1989 animated “The Little Mermaid,” made some lyrical updates for the live-action remake, with help from Lin-Manuel Miranda.
“The Little Mermaid” was released in theaters on May 26, 2023. The film has had a strong opening weekend.

In honor of World Princess Week, a Little Mermaid Milk Shake is currently available at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park is home to Voyage of the Little Mermaid, which has been closed since COVID-19 shut down Walt Disney World in March 2020. But Disney is still surveying guests about the attraction.
