World Princess Week is returning later this month, and the weeks leading up to the occasion are filled with exciting Princess-themed news. In last week’s Disney Parks Blog announcement filled with dolls and appearances, there was one item that sparked my interest more than the rest. There is an app called Calm, which, if you are unfamiliar with it, is filled with sleep stories, music, meditation, and all sorts of things to keep you, well, calm. The stories included come from some of the most talented writers and are narrated by famous voices like Matthew McConaughey and Alan Sklar. It’s been my go-to for myself and the kids since it came out. So when I heard that Disney was teaming up with Calm to release Disney Princess stories, I was extremely excited!
Disney and Calm are bringing the inspirational stories of the Disney Princess characters to families with new mindfulness and sleep content, available exclusively on Calm. The robust new series of content is designed to help kids and their parents head into the new school year with confidence, encourage enjoyment and rest at bedtime, and help make mindfulness a priority for families. Parents will find sleep stories, meditations, and soundscapes featuring Disney Princess characters such as Moana, Rapunzel, Tiana, Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella and more.
As someone who has used this app multiple times per day for years, I love that Calm is expanding its library to include some of Disney’s most beloved characters so that children can more easily imagine these stories coming to life. Here is a brief rundown from Calm on what has been added to the app:
Three New Disney x Calm Sleep Stories
- Rapunzel shares the story of the new observatory she wished for in Starry-Eyed Quest
- Moana recalls the wisdom of her ancestors and saves Fonu in a storm in The Ocean Guardians
- Tiana from The Princess and the Frog shares the memory of her father and finds a special way to honor him on his birthday in Daddy’s Front Porch.
Five New Disney x Calm Meditations
- Breathe like the Ocean with Moana: Soothe worries and feel more peaceful with this breathing exercise from Moana.
- Feel Rooted and Strong with Rapunzel: An imaginative breathing exercise with Rapunzel from Tangled to ease nervousness and promote stability.
- Let Your Light Shine with Tiana: Discover a fun way to brighten up your inner spark with Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.
- Understanding Others with Belle: Belle from Beauty and the Beast reflects on the similarities she shares with others.
- Learn Kindness with Cinderella: Cinderella explains how we can offer ourselves a little more kindness.
Six New Disney x Calm Soundscapes
- Raya’s River Boat Ride: Journey to the lands of Kumandra and take in the calming sounds of Raya’s river boat ride from Raya and the Last Dragon
- Aurora’s Forest Cottage: Venture into the forest and experience the magic of Aurora’s cottage from Sleeping Beauty
