The Disney100 Anniversary is almost here. We’ve seen several months of merchandise and collaborations, though as the countdown to the big day approaches, more specific merch for the anniversary is being released. Every good party needs a cake, and that is the theme around the new Anniversary collection from Loungefly. Check out the four items below in the Disney100 Anniversary Celebration Cake collection that is coming soon:

Disney100 Anniversary Celebration Cake Ears Headband, $30

On the front of the ears, a confectionary wonder takes shape in the form of an anniversary cake. Embroidered sprinkles accompany the cake’s debossed icing, and the number 100 appears on a detachable 3D bow in the headband’s center. On the back, the phrase “100 Years of Wonder” is stitched on a silver background. This accessory makes a centerpiece for any Disney-themed outfit and will keep you looking sweet as you celebrate in style.

Loungefly

Disney100 Anniversary Celebration Cake Flap Wallet, $40

On the front, a confectionary wonder takes shape in the form of an anniversary cake. Mickey and Minnie peek out from behind the 100-year cake topper while confetti pieces appear behind them. Open the top flap to reveal the phrase “Years of Wonder” and to see Mickey and Minnie celebrate with other beloved Disney characters! On the back of the wallet, Tinker Bell, Genie, and Carl Frederickson appear beneath the cake’s icing. By showcasing all of your favorite friends, this accessory makes the perfect centerpiece for any Disney collection.

Loungefly

Disney100 Anniversary Celebration Cake Crossbody Bag, $70

A confectionary wonder takes shape as this three-dimensional bag forms a tiered anniversary cake. Sprinkled icing covers the cake’s layers, which unzip to store your essentials. Turn the bag around to see exclusive artwork of fan-favorite Disney and Disney-Pixar characters as they join the fun! Up above, a 100-year cake topper doubles as the bag’s handle. By showcasing all of your favorite friends, this accessory makes the perfect centerpiece for any Disney outfit or collection.

Loungefly

Disney100 Anniversary Celebration Cake Mini Backpack, $80

On the front, a confectionary wonder takes shape as an anniversary cake rises from the zipper pocket. Look closely and you’ll see Jiminy Cricket peek out from behind the Loungefly plaque! Up above, Pluto, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Chip, and Dale pop up from behind the 100-year cake topper. Debossed confetti pieces appear behind them, and iced cake details continue onto the bag’s side pockets. Turn the bag around to see Carl Frederickson appear near the Disney100 logo. By showcasing all of your favorite friends, this mini backpack makes the perfect centerpiece for any Disney outfit or collection.

Final touches are being added to San Fransokyo Square in Disney California Adventure, which is set to have its grand opening on August 31, but some offerings are already available. The land is a complete re-theme of Pacific Wharf, now inspired by the setting of “Big Hero 6.”

The iconic Torii Gate Bridge, inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco but with two torii gates, is now open for guests to enter the land.

Baymax Bread

Pre-existing Pacific Wharf locations like the Cappuccino Cart and The Bakery Tour are now decked out in street art and colorful banners celebrating the “Big Hero 6” team. Baymax Bread will be available at the Boudin Bread Cart.

Guests will be able to interact with Hiro and Baymax (who will talk) outside the Hamada Bot Shop. Nearby will be the San Fransokyo Maker’s Market, a storefront stocked with unique apparel, homewares, and more featuring Baymax and friends.

Across from the Maker’s Market, vending machines will offer golden medallions featuring Baymax and other San Fransokyo images.

An old fishing net tannery across from Aunt Cass Café is Rita’s Turbine Blenders, a giant drink dispenser offering margaritas and icy beverages. This refreshment stand is owned by and named after the repair technician who maintains the floating wind turbine, resembling a giant koi fish, that sits atop the structure. Be sure to read our recent Rita’s Turbine Blenders review.

During Oogie Boogie Bash, Yokai will appear in San Fransokyo Square.

Some Walls Down at Journey of Water Inspired by Moana at EPCOT!

You never know what you’re going to see when you walk into a Disney theme park when there’s been ongoing construction. Earlier, Zoë shared a sneak peek of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana in the World Nature area of EPCOT, and this afternoon, Erica walked into the park, and a large section of construction walls had been completely removed; you could even see the walk-through attraction’s entrance.

Take a look at some of what we were able to spot today!

In the image below, you can see part of the walking path.

The Kakamora from the film even have a place in the attraction, too!

There is a station to refill water bottles.

Disney has previously shared some images of signs that will be placed throughout the attraction, and we could peep some more today. While we couldn’t necessarily read everything they said from where we stood, we know that the walk-through is wheelchair accessible and that service animals will be permitted to walk through as well.

The attraction is set to open to guests in “late 2023” and it’s looking like it’s almost ready. Are you looking forward to experiencing this?

REVIEW: Mickey Waffles Just Got WAY BETTER in Disney World!

Oh, Mickey Waffles, how we love you.

Mickey Waffle

Whether we are grabbing them at our hotel before we head to the parks, or using them to create the ultimate food hack, Mickey Waffles are a staple on a Disney World trip. So, when I heard about the perfect twist on this Disney food classic, I had to check it out. Come with me to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to review breakfast at Rix Sports Bar and Grill!

Atmosphere

You’ll find this restaurant in Coronado Springs Resort, right across from the El Mercado de Coronado food court.

Rix Sports Bar & Grill

Here, guests can enjoy fun bar food and more for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while they catch up on a game or two. With 31 televisions, this location has a sports bar feel but is a bit more upscale.

Menu

On the breakfast menu, you’ll find classics like the All American Breakfast, Rix Omelette, Country Beef Skillet, and Big Stack Pancakes. There are also Chicken Stuffed Waffles — and they are Mickey-shaped!

Menu

Rix has a large selection of drinks, both non-alcoholic and cocktails. We spotted a variety of juices, basic coffees, seasonal coffee indulgences, mimosas, and breakfast cocktails.

Drink list

Let’s dig in!

Eats

Of course, I had to try the Chicken Stuffed Waffles. I also ordered the Churro Iced Latte for a little pick-me-up.

Full spread

The Churro Iced Latte was $7 and was topped with Whipped Cream and Cinnamon and garnished with a Mini Churro.

Churro Iced Latte

This was nice and smooth and had a fun cinnamon twist. I loved that it had a touch of sweetness but it wasn’t cloyingly so.

Churro Iced Latte

There was almost a spicy kick of cinnamon in the latte itself. The churro wasn’t fried fresh, but it was still pretty impressive compared to some of the stale churros you might find in the park.

Mini churro

The Chicken Stuffed Waffles cost $18 and come with four Mickey Waffles, are stuffed with Chicken Tenders, and served with a side of Maple Syrup and Herb Butter House Potatoes.

Chicken Stuffed Waffles

First things first — these are ADORABLE. The waffles were typical, tasty Mickey waffles — light, fluffy, and delicious with a hint of vanilla. The batter-to-chicken ratio was perfect in my opinion.

MICKEY WAFFLES

Inside, the chicken was tender and paired well with the waffles, but nothing that would blow you away. If you’re looking for an elevated chicken and waffle dish, the Buttermilk-fried Chicken and Waffle at The Grand Floridian Cafe is a much better choice.

But, these were still very enjoyable though. And SO fun to eat — they are served on a stick so you can dip them right in the syrup and take a bite!

Chicken Stuffed Mickey Waffle

The potatoes were actually super flavorful. The peppers and onions made them pop, and they were well-seasoned.

Potatoes

I would have liked for them to be a little crispier, but they were still really delicious.

Overall

Overall, this meal was super filling and a really fun way to start the day! If you’re staying at Coronado Springs Resort, this is a great option for breakfast.

Mickey Waffle

While the Chicken-Stuffed Waffles weren’t the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had, they were still worth a trip for me. So, depending on your schedule, it might even be worth the trip for you even if you’re not staying at the resort.

Nosh or Not

Head on down to Coronado Springs’ Rix Sports Bar & Grill for breakfast if…

  1. You LOVE Mickey waffles. If you love this iconic Disney breakfast, this is a fun twist on the classic that might be worth checking out.
  2. You are staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This is a convenient spot if you’re already at the resort!
  3. You want a filling start to your day. This restaurant has some substantial breakfast meals, so it will be sure to fill you up before you head to the parks!

Have breakfast elsewhere if…

  1. You’re limited on time. If you are in a hurry to get to the parks in the morning, there are other quick-service options that you could try to cut down on time.
  2. You’re not staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. If you’re not staying at this resort, it can be a bit of a haul getting over there!
  3. You aren’t a big breakfast eater. This is a table-service restaurant with substantial breakfast entrees. If you’re not one for a big breakfast, you might be better off skipping and grabbing something simpler on your way to the parks.

We’ll keep bringing you restaurant reviews, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
