Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World Hits Pricing Low Ahead of Hurricane Idalia and Slower Season

Today, August 29, Genie+ at Walt Disney World hit its lowest price point since introducing park-specific pricing in June 2023, likely as a result of Hurricane Idalia.

Disney Genie+ Prices Drop Ahead of Hurricane

When Genie+ was first launched, the service was offered at a flat rate of $15 per person, per day. When the service switched to date-based pricing in 2022, guests saw a new high price of $22.

After park-specific variable pricing was introduced, guests could expect to spend anywhere from $16-$35, depending on the park they wanted to visit.

Today, however, one park saw its lowest Genie+ pricing since the latest change went into effect.

Disney Genie DAK Low 8 29 23

This morning, Genie+ prices went live for the day, and the service for Disney’s Animal Kingdom was available for just $15.

Pricing across all other options is also quite low, ranging between $15 and 20 for single-park visits or multiple parks.

Hurricane Idalia WDW Update

With Hurricane Idalia expected to make landfall Wednesday morning, August 30, it looks as though Walt Disney World anticipates low crowds over the next few days.

At this time, Walt Disney World is still operating normally, though guests at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground have been asked to take some steps for preparation, and 50% discounts are being offered on hotel stays for Florida residents and first responders assisting in storm-related recovery efforts.

Will you be taking advantage of these Disney Genie+ prices while they’re this low? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Have you heard about Disney’s brand NEW cruise ship?

©Disney

The Disney Treasure is a sister ship to the Disney Wish, and its theme is all about adventure! We were expecting to get some BIG announcements about this ship on August 30th, but now that reveal has been moved due to the approaching Hurricane Idalia.

Disney had planned a grand reveal for the Disney Treasure cruise ship on August 30th, but they recently announced that the plans have changed. Here’s Disney’s statement: “Due to the approaching hurricane, the grand virtual reveal of the #DisneyTreasure has been moved to Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. ET.

©Disney

We’ll have to wait just a few more days until September 5th to get new details about the Treasure. You can check out our Disney Treasure page to see what we know so far about the newest ship!

On the 5th, we can expect Disney’s video to show us never-before-released details regarding the ship, including dining options, family entertainment, and the unique spaces that make up the sixth ship in the Disney fleet.

Hurricane Idalia is approaching Florida and is expected to pass to east-central Florida on Wednesday morning, continuing northeastward throughout the day on Wednesday. Disney World has not announced any closures yet — their current statement is as follows: Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. ALERT! Extended Evening Hours May Be Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, there are a few perks that you can get with your booking.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

You’ll get to book dining reservations for your entire trip at the 60-day mark, you’ll be able to get into any theme park 30 minutes early each day of your stay, and you’ll be able to book Individual Lightning Lanes at 7AM instead of waiting until park opening time, to name a few. But for those shelling out a little extra cash and choosing to stay at a Deluxe Resort, there’s one bonus perk.

Guests of Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts can participate in what Disney calls “Extended Evening Hours” on select nights. A couple nights a week, Disney offers a bonus 2-hour time period in select parks for Deluxe guests, where the lines for rides are typically MUCH shorter than during the daytime.

Wilderness Lodge

This is a great time for you to stroll the park after dark, enjoy the empty walkways, and hop on a couple of attractions that were busy during the day. Previously, we’ve seen this perk offered at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios…but now it might be coming to Animal Kingdom!

Spaceship Earth at night

We checked out the Disney World month calendar online, and for the month of November, it’s showing that Animal Kingdom will offer Extended Evening Hours on November 8th. This would be the first time this perk is offered in that park!

©Disney

Disney hasn’t yet made an announcement about adding this perk to Animal Kingdom but we’ll be on the lookout for any updates. Hopefully, this is something that will be available more regularly! (We would especially love to spend more time in Pandora — The World of Avatar at night!)

Stay tuned to DFB for the latest news and updates on all the parks and the perks that you get when staying on Disney property. We’ll keep you in the loop!
